Akehurst's interview with Socialists of Colour is... sweet Jesus.

This has reminded me of Luke's trip to Vietnam.
Bitter irony in this in that Luke is defined by his hatred of Trotskyists and the hard left, yet this is eerily reminiscent of the Militant's "feminism will have to wait until after the revolution" attitude:

Give the devil his due, he's got ice in his veins. Those responses are carefully calculated to delegitimate any struggle against any racism outside antisemitism, but without breaking party rules.
This diminishing attitude was obviously goingto upset and offend people from other marginalised groups, and may even have been intended that way.
So selective that I linked to the interview in the OP because the whole thing is AYE CARUMBA level stuff.

Re Johnson's outrageous IRA claims here, I think there's something to be said on the subject of Corbyn, and the lack of solidarity shown to him by his PLP colleagues.

The fact is that most of the PLP never defended Corbyn over this oft-repeated slur that everyone who went door-knocking for Labour between 2015 and 2019 must have heard recited back to them by a home-owning, sexagenarian Leave voter.
While those of us on the radical left believe that 'solidarity is joy' (the slogan for @twtsouthampton), solidarity- acting in support of those with whom we share interests- is also, in many ways, pragmatic.

After the 2017 GE I eavesdropped on some tennis club Tory turning the air blue about his granddaughter having voted Labour. "She voted for that Jeremy Corbyn just because she'd get free tuition. WHY SHOULD SHE GET FREE TUITION?"

His own granddaughter. The old hate the young.
The last few months have seen a flow of solidarity from young to old through mutual aid groups. The old are still planning on voting Tory.

The only way around this, really, is an opposition worth voting for an a more democratic electoral system.
Why do home-owning Boomers who hate their own grandchildren?

My theory is that they've internalised neoliberal ideology more than Gen Xers or Millennials because they've been in the labour market throughout the neoliberal era.

Having seen the tweet below, I've decided to do a thread on why every progressive should be very worried by what's happening in the Labour Party.
It now seems highly plausible that there's an attempt to subvert UK democracy via Labour.
There exists within the labour movement (trade unions plus the Labour Party) a tendency whose politics, put crudely, is "free markets and foreign interventions but not as nasty as the Tories".
