We complain about #zoom lectures a lot...but heres some positives I’ve found (1/3) 1. often have students hanging around for 15-20 mins after class to ask q’s/chat about content. Doesn’t happen so much in person as we’re getting hustled out of lecture theatres @AcademicChatter
2. Students asking questions using chat feature who probably wouldn’t in class. That option to type rather than having to speak is easier for some
3. Easy collaboration in breakout groups (our tiered seating lecture theatres don’t make group work easy in person!)
4. So many tools to check understanding and gather feedback as you go - chat, polls, annotation feature, shared docs...I’ve found some of my cohorts interact MORE via Zoom than they did in class
Yeah getting used to lecturing via Zoom takes time but it’s not all bad! (3/3)
