Be conscious of people that applaud your mediocrity

What do I mean?

You need to be wary of friends/ family that openly accept you operating at a mediocre level

Unfiltered constructive criticism is the only opinion you need to take ur work to the next level

Let me explain ⬇️
Sometimes, in & unintentionally, those closest to you stunt ur growth. By having you believe you are doing ‘good enough’

By applauding subpar performance, & giving you the notion that you are performing at a good level

Good is fine. But why be average when u can be extraordinary?
For example

If you produce creative work and your friends always tell you it’s ‘nice’ or it’s ‘not bad’.

Recognize, that in there lies a pattern bound to become a problem. You are creating an ecosystem of ‘Yes’ men & women

You do not need ‘Yes’ men & women around you
You need fresh eyes.

Clear unfiltered opinions.

When you ask for someone’s opinion, be willing to accept it, and leave your feelings or emotions on the side.

Harsh truth: The world doesn’t reward your feelings. It rewards your ability to consistently push the envelope.
In order to do that, in order to achieve above average results you have to produce above average work.

In an effort to produce above average work, you have to silence the opinions of people that accept & applaud mediocrity.

Your environment is everything
