Read all threads
1/ In June, my Twitter profile received 16,600 impressions.

In August, it had 372,000 impressions.
An increase of 2140.96%. How'd that happen?

I started writing threads. Some worked, some didn't.
Here are some lessons I learned.
2/ The success of a thread is determined by two factors:

1. The language used in the first Tweet
2. Who Retweets it

Let's look at some data
3/ First, the language used in the intro Tweet.

This Tweet had 957 impressions with 70 engagements. Why so low? It's boring.

It doesn't explain what someone would learn if they read the thread.

I thought the content was great, so I changed things up.

4/ I took the same thread and changed the language of the intro Tweet.

Impressions go up to 52,522 with 5,892 engagements.

Same exact thread, in the same exact order, but with a different intro Tweet.

5/ Here's another one. I explain who @domm is and why he should be trusted. This had 33,328 impressions and 6,648 engagements.

6/ In both threads, the person I analyzed retweeted the intro Tweet which, in return, boosted reach - making my second point:

Who retweets it matters.

Domm (19k+ followers) & David (115K+ followers) were both kind enough to retweet the previous examples.
7/ The first time I did the thread on @david_perell, he just liked it. Again, cause the language sucked. What value would that add to his timeline? None.
8/ TLDR;

Threads are an incredible way to grow on Twitter. To do it right, spend a lot of time rethinking the intro Tweet.

If it's done well, the right person will retweet it – expanding your reach exponentially.
