That the thousands of Americans who have the last full measure of devotion on battlefields in Europe and the Pacific to defeat fascism were “losers”?

In a trade to bring fascism to America?

I wonder what Kelly thinks in the dark of the night, because I lay awake at night, too.

I wonder if my service means anything. If my dead friends sacrifice means anything. Because the loudest “patriots” don’t seem to care as long as they get vengeance upon everyone they aren’t.

I’m just sad. And tired.

But we’ll keep soldiering on. It’s our duty. We have lost too many to give up.

But it’s your duty, too. There are implied responsibilities to citizenship.

The solemn responsibility of civilian leadership of the military by only supporting those who will use it judiciously.

To ensure that the American Experiment carries forth to generations yet born by giving of yourself the time, talent, and treasure necessary to see it ably led.
