/ How we know @JeffreyGoldberg's @TheAtlantic article on @realDonaldTrump comments about US troops during his November 2018 trip to France is absolutely false: it is NOT in former National Security Adviser John Bolton's book & Bolton was there.
foxnews.com/politics/john-…
/ It is very suspicious that Goldberg would publish such an article 60 days befoe the election about something that allegedly occurred 2 years ago using anonymous sources. But if @realDonaldTrump actually said the disparaging things about US troops that Goldberg claims . . .
/ Bolton would have known about them since he worked so closely with th president and COS John Kelly. And since Bolton attacked the president's character with everything he had in his book, it is impossible to believe that Bolton left this out.
/ Bolton said in a recent interview: “I didn’t hear him say those things,” adding that he probably would have included the remarks in his book if he had. “Now, did he say those things to other people later in the day? It’s certainly possible.”
/ This is nonsense. If the president said such things. Bolton would have been told by multiple staff members. Bolton had good sources in White House and always knew what was going on. And could Goldberg's 3 anonymous sources know this and Bolton did not when he wrote his book?
/ I also note that Bolton's book directly contradicts what Goldberg wrote on why @realDonaldTrump trip to the the Château-Theirry Belleau Wood monuments was cancelled. He says it was due to bad weather. See Byron York' tweet on this:
/ So it is certain that an important claim in Goldberg's story is false -- the reason for the cancellation of the trip to the monuments. But the absence in Bolton's book of the alleged criticism of US troops by the president is far more important in discrediting Goldberg.
