What symptoms did you have?
Initially I had mild fever and thought it was a regular fever. Slowly I got other symptoms like dry cough and body weakness.

When did you decide to get tested?
I started getting high fever with other symptoms. Decided to get tested after that.

Why did you get hospitalized instead of home treatment?
My parents wanted me to stay at home and recuperate, but given my medical condition at the time of testing +ve, my doctor recommended to get hospitalized.

How many days were you hospitalized?
13 days (23/08 - 04/09)

How did your health pan out in hospital?
It was a rollercoaster! First 4 days I was stable though I had fever. After that my symptoms intensified with high fever and headache. Doctors advised me to reduce usage of mobile phone and advised complete rest.

Complete rest, together with medicines improved my condition a lot and I tested negative on 2nd September.

Did you get proper care in hospital?
Absolutely, the doctors and hospital staff motivated me and addressed each of my needs. They never let me feel that I was alone!

How is your health now?
My body is still recovering, I have light fever and dry cough.

What kept you motivated during this?
I diverted my attention from Covid19 by thinking, watching or doing things that were positive. Doctors also helped to keep my morale high.

Lastly, how do you think you got the infection?
I met a friend who had unknowingly got infected after attending a birthday party. It was unfortunate that a birthday party was organized during the current situation.

We are happy to note that our volunteer is back sourcing data for covid19india.org and wish him a full recovery.

His story also brings forth the need to take necessary precautions, regardless of age or health condition. Yes, we need to live with this, but also stat safe!
