This is a clever method to wedge the racial divide. The chasm is forming. Will you still stand with BIPOC?
Will you push in your white community or will you prioritize white solidarity and comfort?
Will you acknowledge that whites privilege exists, systemic racism is operating, and racial equity is necessary?
Will you call out white folks who deny their privilege and their action or inaction that maintains the status quo?
If you were protesting before will you take a stand today, tomorrow?
Educators, will you teach ethnic studies, about power and privilege? Especially when the white supremacy culture in your org is prepared to slander you, discredit you, attack you?
Will you stand next to BIPOC who go harder tomorrow on social justice work, or will you stay silent? Will you bring up racial issues?
As the moderates go back to being moderates and the centrists, retreat to the right, where will you go?
Folks of color, they are coming for us, always have been, but they will get bolder. It’s time to link up, strategize, mobilize.
Being a leader and activist isnt about joining the bandwagon. It’s about staying on it when it’s bumpy. When it’s unpopular or even “illegal.”
