You can study God through everything and everyone in the universe, bc God is not confined in a mosque, synagogue or church. But if you are still in need of knowing where exactly His abode is, there is only one place to look for Him: in the heart of a true lover
- Shams Tabrizi
Many Sufis define their belief as spirituality or religiosity rather than a religion, because it revolves around personal experience more than doctrine. It involves remembrance, contemplation, awareness, ecstatic states, a quest for purity and seeking the truth of divine love.
Sufism is rooted in a principle known as Tawhid, which is expressed as Absolute Reality or Oneness. The Sufistic Tawhid is not 'everything is God', it is 'God is everything', or, more specifically, 'there is nothing except God'’. Tawhid also happens to be my family name.
Naturally I’ve been meditating on the Absolute Reality or Oneness my entire life. Anytime I speak or write my last name it’s a remembrance that there is nothing but the One. When they say your destiny is written in your name I completely understand.
That’s why I love this and other poems from Shams so much, because it actually articulates Sufi metaphysics perfectly. It is a path that doesn’t say our path is better, it literally explains that all paths are valid.
I shared this before but if you’re looking to directly explore the mysticism of Sufi Poetry. And also learn to write from the heart, I really recommend this course from my sister @sukinapilgrim . She is also offering a free introduction class on September 19th.

One of the characteristics of feminine creative sexual energy is problem solving. This is one of the powers of the feminine, the energy of the muse. To see the bigger picture, recognize a creative solution and pour life force into something for it to reach its highest expression.
The challenge is without proper knowledge of this creative energy and how to work with it skillfully, it becomes a resource that we simply give away every time someone brings their problems to us. We unconsciously go into responsibility and experience their problems as our own.
You can have compassion without going into responsibility. Many of us were programmed at a young age to use our creative energy to heal everyone in our immediate environment who was in pain. The hook was simply we would see them trying and this alone would trigger our generosity.
A personal share..
Many of you know I was born into mysticism as a child. I have been a great admirer of the Sufi mystic, Hazrat Inayat Khan. Recently, at my home, I received initiation into the Mystic Sufi lineage of The Inayatiyya Order by his grandson Pir Zia Inayat Khan.
Over a century ago, Pir-o-Murshid Hazrat Inayat Khan came to share Sufism with the west, “Music and mysticism,” he says, “were my heritage”. He often spoke about how music would unite the world.
“Some day music will be the means of expressing universal religion”
He also spoke in great depth about Nature. “When we pay attention to nature's music, we find that everything on the Earth contributes to its harmony”. This is what ultimately drew me to this path and it’s daily mystical practices. It’s as if he was speaking directly to me.
The heart (4th chakra) and layer helps with quality of life. The spiritual abilities it has are compassion, enthusiasm, self esteem, self love, gratitude, motivation, affinity for ourselves and others. When it’s not flowing it creates feelings of resentment, rejection, loneliness
This may seem hard to believe but the feelings that we often associate with how someone else treated us are often more about us shutting down and not allowing the energy in the heart and the surrounding 4th layer to flow. There can be energy blocks or damage to our energy system.
Our energy system (aura) can absolutely experience damage from others sending us their anger, frustration, grief, hate, and other harmful thoughts. It may be difficult to see that someone we care about would throw so much negative energy at us. But it is mostly unconscious.
The call for some of us right now is to reconnect to our wildness. And those who did not receive that call won’t understand.
Some people will tell you, you’re too much, too big, too bright, too beautiful and require you to adjust to where they are.
It’s not actually that you’re too much, it’s that you’re too much for them. And theres a big difference.
Keep noticing the invitations to hide and shrink yourself to meet other ideas of how much you’re allowed to shine and then wake up even more beauty and light in you. And appreciate that you received the call and answered it.
If you think of someone and feel sick in your stomach, are you ready to listen to your body this time?
Listening to your body requires actually being present in your body. Which means being present in all of your chakras.
Not just in your head where you assume meaning.
Gut feelings are often misinterpreted because they are subtle and nuanced. Stay away from popular tropes and sounds bites when it comes to trying to decode what these intuitive sensations are telling you. This requires actual deep listening.
For example feeling sick in the stomach when you meet someone doesn’t automatically means they are bad’
It could however mean that whenever you interact with them you collapse your solar plexus to appear non threatening. As a way to stay safe. A pattern you learned from a parent
