"Babe, I don't think this is fair. I don't make demands like other girls. The only thing I ask you to do for me won't cost you anything, but you have been refusing for the past 6 months. If you were in my shoes, I'm sure you won't like it. It's not fair, I don't like it!"

Funke was not happy with her boyfriend, Tayo. They've been dating for 9 months now. She's been inviting him to Church for the past 6 months, but he always turned it down with, "I'm not a Church guy".

But Funke WAS a Church girl and she wanted him to go to church with her...

Tayo didn't want to go to Church because he didn't want to be judged.
He knew his lifestyle was not godly and he didn't want anyone ramming religion and condemnation down his throat.
Not going to church at all is better than going and be condemned, he reasoned...

But Funke had been adamant for a while.
She usually comes over to his house of Friday after work and stays till Sunday before she goes back to her house to get ready for work on Monday.
This had been her routine for the past 9 months.
Tayo loved her, but this church thing...

"Ok, Babe- we will go to Church tomorrow. I'm just doing this for you- I've not been to any Church in a decade, but we'll go tomorrow..."
Funke was elated! She had been praying for Tayo to follow her to Church, hoping he can meet with Jesus and be born again like her...

If Tayo gets born again, I'll be the happiest girl in the world, she thought.

Let me just follow her to church ONCE and we close that chapter, he thought.

Sunday morning, Tayo and Funke dressed up and went to Church.
As soon as they got into the hall, Funke excused herself...

"I'll see you a bit later, Babe. Just sit anywhere- I'm sure you'll enjoy the service!"
And Funke was gone.
Tayo sat down, the service started a few minutes later.
They started with prayers, he stood there smiling as he watched them speaking gibberish. "Tongues", they call it...

Then time for praise worship.
Tayo froze: the worship leader is Funke, his girlfriend!

Woah!

He didn't see that coming!
He stood there as Funke led praise and worship with grace and anointing.
He saw folks weeping, he felt the presence of God strongly- even as an unbeliever!

Pastor came up and started preaching.
His message: "Your Body is the Temple of the Holy Spirit" -1 Corinthians 6:15.
As Pastor preached, Tayo was having goose pimples.

When Pastor finished his message and made an altar call, Tayo was the first to run out, weeping.
He was broken!

Funke saw him and was happy! God has answered her prayers!
After service, the new converts were taken to a room for counselling.
Funke waited for Tayo, her heart singing.
A few minutes later, he came out.
She ran to hug him.
Tayo screamed, "GET AWAY FROM ME!"
Funke was shocked...

And embarrassed!
Tayo was looking at her with blazing eyes.
"You're a bloody hypocrite!
You come to my house every weekend for sex.
Then you come to church to lead the singers! So, this is how God uses you every Sunday, and you still allow me do all sorts of stuff to your body..?

You want God to kill me, abi?
You're a very wicked girl!
Your body is the Temple of the Holy Spirit- are you not aware?
How can your body be God's temple and you still do all those things every weekend?
What type of Christian are you, Funke? I don't ever want to see you again!

Stay away from me and my house!
It's OVER!
We're done!
I don't want to die, please!
I have been defiling the Temple of God all these months!
May God forgive me!
Pastor, this girl is wicked!
You have no idea what we do every weekend..."
Tayo went on and on, everybody heard...

Funke got her wish:
Tayo followed her to Church.
Tayo got born again.
She just did not bargain for what happened after his conversion!
The shame was too much for her.
She left the Church.
Tayo became a very committed Christian and member of the same Church.
He's a Pastor today.

This happened in Abeokuta, Ogun State about 25 years ago.
I knew the couple (names are changed).

There are things we do as Christians that are wrong- and we know it.
It is always best to STOP.
God is not mocked.
We needn't get embarrassed like Funke before we stop these things.

You can choose to stop sinning.
You can choose not to.
Nobody may see you.
People may not know what you do in secret when nobody is watching- just like Funke.
But God does.

And I can guarantee you ONE thing:
Your sin WILL find you out (Numbers 32:23).
