Its time to put TPLF and Ethnic-Federalist on the wall and demand answers:
Where is Shoa(Shewa)?
They dissolved Shoa to make the "Oromo State". A nation that has been anointing its own kings for CENTURIES... gone. Destroyed to make way for an "Ethnic" state based on language.
They could have made a proper federation out of all the Kingdoms of Ethiopia, why didn't they? Why choose language as a border marker? Why wipe out a thousand year history? Where is Begemeder(Gonder), why was it crushed to make the "new Amhara" state molded by "language"?
Where is Gojjam, she anointed her kings for centuries and now instead of being a federal state, squashed into the "Amhara" state. If the case is being made that Ethnic-Federalism was chosen to "preserve our history", then, by the Holy Lord, kingdoms not language is our grouping!
By 1930 our country remained true to its ancient history. You can still see all the kingdoms as administrative regions and foremost identity marker in a unitary country.
By 1960 It was restructured, again the identities of ancient kingdoms were taken into consideration, and people aligned to these regions for their identity.
until 1991 when TPLF assumed power the nation was divided into smaller administration regions, but the old Kingdoms were the front and center identity markers.
When TPLF took power they said the old kingdoms will not be an identity marker. So they created a new map where ethnic makeup become the foremost identity marker.
This was done for one important reason. To prepare for secession. All the other maps do not allow Tigray to make a clean cut without being landlocked INSIDE Ethiopia. So, first order of business: steal more land. But how do you do that? Make states by language.
TPLF threw out centuries of history to collect Welkait and Raya. So ethnic-federalism is simply a land grab mechanism which was meant to facilitate a bigger Tigray exiting Ethiopia. It wasn't meant to last 27 years.
So why haven't they left yet? Tying up loose ends. First simply leaving Ethiopia and living in its shadows won't do. Ethiopia had to be broken. This was done in quite an impressive fashion. First you create out of thin air two non-existing states to represent two "ethnic" groups.
This is critical, for example if this was not done then the Anole statue holding the breast becomes the story of how Shoa anihlated Arsi. How on earth will the young Borana "Oromo" boy learn to hate the Gonder "Amhara" boy? How will the Jimma "Oromo" feel like a victim
of the Gojjam "Amhara"? It is reduced to the story of a war between neighboring kingdoms. Localized.
Secondly Oromo, their creation, was too young. If they left too early, Oromo would revert back to its kingdom based identities. The past 27 years was spent grooming
the Borena, the Arsi, the Bale, the Wellega...etc, that they are not part of Ethiopia, but Oromo, a state they created in 1991. Then the unexpected happened. War with Eritrea over Badme. But Badme was just an excuse. What actually happened was that Eritrea and TPLF were fighting
over controlling Ethiopia's economy. Eritrea controlled a lot of Ethiopia's economic sectors by passing TPLF. Badme was just a cover to kick out Eritreans and take over the businesses they controlled. This of course put a dent in the secession plan as that put them
Between Ethiopia and Eritrea, and the goal post was moved. Now Tigray had to have enough military power to secede so if war with Eritrea ensued, they could do it without Ethiopia's help. But now it seems Ethiopia and Eritrea have made peace, TPLF are losing it.
They got blind sided by the Abiy administration, so they have begun detonating all their fail safe mechanisms trying to activate the ethnic hatred they have been grooming Ethiopia with.
Lets shutdown TPLF once and for all.
They want to "protect our culture" and our "Heritage"? Ok. Bring back our Kingdoms! Where is the kingdom of Ifat, the kingdom of Narea, the kingdom of Dawro. So we can, you know, preserve our history.
Really, the question is how far back do you want to go? Do we bring back the Kingdom of Kaffa or do we bring back the kingdom of Jimma that replaced it? Speaking of Jimma, why hasn't Jimma become its own state?
Addis Ababa doesn't belong to Oromo state created in 1991 or Amhara state created 1991, it belongs to SHEWA (SHOA). FINISHED. We can't let TPLF STEAL A WHOLE KINGDOM OF THEIR HISTORY. Bring back the Kingdom of Bale, we know the Sultan was Abba Kutte or the Kingdom of Jimma
whose ruler was Abba Jiffar. Change the national id from saying "ethnic" to "Kingdom". Lets tear down their "language" demarcation and revive our TRUE HISTORICAL IDENTITY.
The IRONY of talking about the need for ethnic-Federalism because "Amhara" is destroying our "cultural identity", when they themselves have wiped out entire kingdoms and created the FIRST EVER AMHARA FLAG.
If you look at any old map of Ethiopia, you cannot find "Western Tigray"...
So how did we get "Western Tigray"? And what is the difference between the new map and these old maps?
First you must understand what happened in 1991, many people assume that the Derg lost the war and were expelled by the revolutionary front.
And that of course is just pure propaganda, nothing of the sort happened ... so what actually happened?
First of all the Derg dissolved the Monarchy by deposing and imprisoning the Emperor in 1974. They Executed around 60 members of the ruling class and the Emperor died in custody in 1975. So TPLF, EPLF, OLF and Co are not fighting the "Amhara hegemony"
1. Ethiopia is one of 54 African countries that have a multinational makeup. Yet only six African countries have a constitution that sets up a Federation. Sudan, South Sudan, Nigeria, Ethiopia, Somalia and South Africa. The other 48 are unitary countries.
Of these 6 Federations, Ethiopia is unique in adopting a constitution that creates States across ethnic lines. In other words 89% of African countries prefer to, or live in, a unitary country. Our Federal constitution is not only a minority but being ethnic based its also fringe.
We have to understand that TPLF is currently putting Tigray in Kamikazi mode. Why? Because for 30 years they have fed the people of Tigray that without them Tigray will be reduced to dust. Indeed, they tell every international media that TPLF is trying to stop a "genocidal war".
Any mention of this conflict by Tigray media is preceded by "war on Tigray", "extermination", "genocide". They have invested heavily in the idea that their demise, that is TPLF, should be equated to the end of Tigray.
As such it is their God given duty that every Tigrayan should surrender their children, their young, their old and everything in between to save "Tigray". In actuality, it is merely a campaign to mobilize Tigray people as a human shield to protect TPLF.
Why are Ethiopians forced to live with a party and ideology that no other African is willing to live with? TPLF and its ideology is so criminal that measures have been taken so that nothing like them ever exists in their country.
Here are a few:
KENYA
Constitution Article 19.2
"A political party shall not-
a. be founded on a religious, linguistic, racial, ETHNIC, gender or regional basis or seek to engage in advocacy of hatred on any such basis;"
DJIBOUTI
Constitution Article 6
"The political parties and/or groups of political parties concur in the expression of suffrage...It is forbidden to them to identify themselves to a race, to an ethnicity, to a sex, to a religion, to a sect, to a language or to a region."
Despite their best efforts the US could neither resurrect the TPLF nor stop the upcoming election. Ethiopia seems unshakably fixed on a course to the most pivotal elections in its history and critical overhaul of the Ethiopian constitution.
There has been zero political support by the US and Europe for the upcoming elections, in fact, they have called for it's cancellation. Europe attempting to diminish the international credibility of the elections by withdrawing its observers, although now they are reconsidering.
Ethiopia has announced that national dialogue will be held after the elections. The dialogue is expected to generate a national consensus on the future of Ethiopia. The US has been fighting, unsuccessfully, to have the dialogue before elections.
