1/12 The person whose details Neil Punchard illegally obtained & GAVE to her abuser, was at risk.
1.She had left him
2.She was pregnant
3.She was female
4.She had children
She had been to court about his abuse before.
Everything about her was high risk. @cait__kelly
2/12 All people who are responding to victims of abuse need to know the basics.
A police officer - law enforcement- needs to know this ...when 2/5 of the assaults they record are family violence related.
Police ought to know this when it is their core business. @Drhutch2011
3/12 In one year, there were over 70 THOUSAND calls to QLD police about DV.
There is absolutely no excuse for a cop to claim ignorance. The signs were all there.
@sally_stevensxn @kjoh7876 @Schwartziris @duskywhalerkate @bongindustryz @chingonareina @trish_acullen @ABCthedrum
4/12 Punchards texts to her abuser clearly shows him inciting violence and intimidation.
“Fuck the bitch over”
“Let loose on her”

He knew she was scared
“Watch her shit herself”
“Tell her you know her address”
@stefoons @FunnellMike @mike_salter @scarlettrfranks @Dr_Polarbird
5/12 Punchard is not ignorant, he DELIBERATELY gave those details to him to facilitate abuse. It’s all there in black and white. He wanted to threaten her, to intimidate her, he wanted to scare her. @JaneCaro @jessradio @ninafunnell @stefoons @IWHCwomenhealth @ASDVConference
6/12 How can ANY woman in QLD feel safe going to this officer to report abuse? We already know that only
16% of women will report her assault to the police. @womenssafetynsw @safer_families @realCarrickRyan @PhilCleary_Ind @kelfuller @LoveNotGreed @bradchilcott @hayleyboxall1
7/12 I just really wanted to repeat ..16%.
8/12 The reasons are many & varied. Research has shown that police attitudes plays a big part of that ..that there is often a dismissive response, inadequate response or no response at all. This has been recognised in the research including that from QLD.@HumanHeadline
9/12 In fact, over 330 mil spent on the “not now not ever” campaign to reduce domestic violence recognises this & recommends addressing the police response to women experiencing Domestic & Family Violence.@QldPolice @SallyRMelb @venessb @ManjulaOConnor @YouAreLobbyLud @WCS_CEO
10/12 So if the Qld govt means Not now,Not ever,then they should know someone who deliberately broke the law, hacked into a database 9 times & handed that information to a woman’s abuser should NOT be in law enforcement. Not now, not ever. @AnnastaciaMP
11/12 If you agree, sign this petition to show that violence against women will not be tolerated any longer, and that although the court has determined he is at risk of unemployment ..the bigger risk is what his continued employment will mean to the safety of the women of Qld.
