This "record" was only possible because the president ignored the virus for seven weeks, pretended it would go away on its own, called it a hoax ... thereby missing the window of containing it to a couple of cities and, as a result, forcing the closure of the economy.
More about that here, as a matter of fact. #UsefulIdiot

NEW -- Donald Trump is on his way to Scotland to promote a new course at one of his golf resorts.

American taxpayers are footing the $9.7 million -- at least -- travel and security bill so that he can make more money at his family business.

This is just the latest example of his using the imprimatur of the presidency for his own personal benefit.
In April, he flew Air Force One from Palm Beach to Miami International Airport and then took a Marine Corps helicopter to his Doral golf resort less than two miles away.

Donald Trump is giving the commencement address at the United States Military Academy wearing his campaign hat. Image
Trump finished his meandering speech in which he attacked his predecessors, bragged about his election win, talked about trophy wives … then he left, claiming he had to deal with Russia and China.
It is traditional for the president at academy commencements to congratulate each cadet.

That part of the ceremony is now happening without him. Image

NEW -- Trump's White House is hiding the vast majority of the transcripts of his remarks.

Why? The White House won't say...

But maybe reading the following might offer a clue:

The question, by the way, was how many more people was he intending to send to the prison in El Salvador.

Or read through part of his answer about what happens if Putin breaks his word on a cease fire with Ukraine: Image
Or, from just the other day, here is his answer on why he wants to reopen Alcatraz prison: Image

NEW COLUMN - It turns out the Supreme Court has no army, no police force, to carry out its rulings. Nor does Congress.

They, and all of us, are dependent on Donald Trump to honor the rule of law.

However scared you are, you're not scared enough.

The president of the United States, from the moment he regained the office, has been step-by-step following the autocrat’s playbook. He has gone after universities for not obeying his decrees.
He has extorted law firms for having on staff, or just once-upon-a-time having had on staff, people who crossed him. He has targeted for prosecution former aides who challenged him. He has arrested a local judge for not helping him round up migrants for deportation.

PUBLIC SERVICE EXPLANATION ON HOW TARIFFS WORK:

Some years ago I needed a spare paddle for my self-steering gear. I was in Spain, but was on my way to Gibraltar so had it shipped to the marina I was going to tie up in.
Checked the mail coming in to the office daily, and one morning there was a notice for me to come collect my package at Her Majesty's Customs.

I walked down the quay, was given my package and a bill -- for the import tariff that was due.
I paid it and only then was able to take my spare paddle back to my boat.

TO RECAP:

The exporting manufacturer did not pay the tariff.
The exporting nation did not pay the tariff.
*I* paid the tariff. Moi.

And I 100 percent did not think of it as a "tax cut."

NEW -- Remember that reporter who asked Zelenskyy why he wasn't wearing a suit?

His former "news" outlet has taken $192,000 from the Trump campaign -- nearly half of which took place while he was program director director there.

Brian Glenn does not seem to think there was any problem with a news organization taking money from the subject it was covering.

Glenn acknowledged the payments in a brief interview, describing them as “production” costs.
He then pointed to the row of television cameras set up in the back of the White House briefing room.

“Who pays for them?” he asked, suggesting that the major networks like NBC, CNN and Fox also accept money from the entities they cover.
