From the new CA Ethnic Studies curriculum (k-12), this is the "Privilege Walk" exercise that I personally think could be traumatic/embarrassing for all involved. And wtf @
"If you think of the police as people that will help you, take one step forward." #CriticalRaceTheory
Police are only mentioned in a negative context in this framework, and the word "police" is 99% of the time followed by the word "brutality". This entire thing is garbage. @SBECalifornia#BanCRT
These are suggested SONG LYRICS for an assignment in the Ethnic Studies curriculum framework.
Tell me, @SBECalifornia, what does gender identity have to do with Ethnic Studies? And what the hell is this: We should "stop ascribing gender to infants" to "resist the hegemony"?!
Someone please make a song out of these "lyrics", might be good for a laugh 🙏
Thanks for sharing this, all. If you're feeling infuriated enough to leave a public comment on the matter, they're accepting public comments until September 30th: cde.ca.gov/ci/cr/cf/esmc2…
Kid: Mommy, have you or any other women in our family ever been sexually abused or harassed?
Mom: What?
Kid: I need to know for class so I can find out if I have more or less privilege.
Found the previous framework for History and Social Sciences on the same exact website, it's from the early 2000s. It's entirely sane, respectful, fair, and ethical.... And when compared to the new proposed framework, makes me sad to read it now.
And the old framework doesn't ignore the Jewish people. How can you have an Ethnic Studies curriculum that completely omits the holocaust?
