The Discovery season 3 trailer was interesting, I like the setting. Hopefully this is how the get some part of the federation founding principles right this time.
like lower decks had an episode that was just “screw our ethics, just take care of business” and that didn’t give me a great deal of hope about where the franchise is heading.
If only the federation would cut the red tape that’s holding citizens back.

I think this is probably the year to hold your nose and vote blue. I can also see how being told this your whole adult life in less dire elections only to have dems create little change, incremental or otherwise, might have soured you on the notion at this point.
I’m not telling you how to vote, I’m just acknowledging this part of the clusterfuck we’ve got ourselves into.
well, what’s maybe more annoying is being told to vote blue, only to have blues shit all over you for being even slightly further left than centrist dems.

We alway talk about what happens when push comes to shove and this year is the year we found out and it’s not great.
I mean, the meaning of that phrase is something like, “we’ll find out what you really believe when the situation isn’t so easy.” and it turns out what we really believe is kind of awful.
when push came to shove we didn’t show up for doctors, or the service industry, or any other essential workers we need to keep the wheels on this bus from coming off.

At this point I’m just curious how long this society lasts in it’s current configuration. If there are jobs available to be periodically frozen and unthawed to study happened while I was sleeping I’d really be into that.
the other job I think I would do well at is exploring the galaxy in a living ship with only occasional reports back to a home I’m not sure still exists.

Honestly nothing predicts the future of this country like the “let’s burn down the observatory so this never happens again!” line from the simpsons.
The same people who rolled coal and turned every appliance in their house on on earth day to stick it to the libs will absolutely be running you over in their cars as you protest the horrors of the world we and they built.
They will absolutely hurt us before admitting they were catastrophically wrong and we were more right than not. It’s the kind of world you get where you admitting you fucked up, chalking it up to experience, making it right, and moving on is just completely off the table.
