1. Coronavirus will dominate headlines today but..... Former Cabinet minister involved in putting together the EU deal gobsmacked that Hancock said the changes to Withdrawal Bill were about the peace process this morning
2. 'I cannot allow anyone to get away with saying the govt is doing this to protect the peace process. This does the precise opposite. It is about the internal market in the UK and is more likely to lead to a harder border which will imperil the peace process.' they say
3. A reminder, Hancock told @BBCr4today govt was acting to change the deal using UK law because 'first and foremost' its priority was to protect the peace
4. At the risk of sounding like a broken record, we still haven't seen the actual bill yet despite 3 days of controversy - we'll see in black and white later what it actually proposes to do

Remember Chris Grayling was meant to be the new chair of the powerful Intelligence and Security Committee ? well sounds like it didn't quite pan out that way.....
He had to win a vote to get the job from the other MPs in the room - sounds like it didn't go his way, and went to another Tory MP
Source suggests Julian Lewis will be the chair instead

From this weekend single parents and single people can join a ‘support bubble’ - in other words, millions of people can now go to each other’s houses and don’t have to follow 2 m rule in England BUT...
You can only choose ONE other household - and it doesn’t apply to people who are shielding, and refers to people in England
But a big deal for many people - eg single grandparents who will be able to spend time with and hug their grandchildren for the first time in several months - ‘bubble’ model could be expanded to include other households as time goes on

1. No criminal investigation into Arcuri-Johnson relationship - but interesting findings in the official report nonetheless ....
2. No evidence PM asked for favours but "there was evidence to suggest that those officers making decisions about sponsorship monies +attendance on trade missions thought that there was a close relationship between Johnson + Arcuri, and this influenced their decision-making.“
3. Review says "there was close association btw Mr Johnson and Ms Arcuri + there may have been an intimate relationship." - Johnson, Mayor at the time, was not under obligation under code of conduct to declare that as an interest, but review says he might have been wise to do so

Sir Simon retracted which is unusual enough - worth remembering EU schemes have so far not delivered vital kit, but...
Sources part of Cobra talks at start of pandemic say there were conversations about working with EU where Health Sec acknowledged sensitivities of doing so - one says he was urged to put politics aside, and minister there says there was added dilemma about anything to do with EU
But sources close to Health Sec strongly dispute there were any Cobra discussions about the specific EU schemes and are adamant ideological considerations were not part of any of the process
