The obvious sector to start with has to be healthcare. There has to be a way to get quality healthcare to 30 million Nigerians in the middle class via a functional health insurance system that targets where they work and builds hospital system around where they get care.

The quantum of good JOBS a network of 100 urban medical centers cum teaching hospitals built on PPP basis to quickly train health professionals while offering quality care across the country can create plus the lives that can be saved plus the revenue to be generated is mad.

D & B reports that Cedarcrest in Abuja has 30 full time employees at $2.2 million revenue; for a typical hospital multiply that number by 5 to get the real employment in Locum, Part Timers, Casual Labour, Contractors - you’re looking at 200-300 working 24/7

Imagine having one in every Senatorial district. 109 of them. 32k jobs. Economic activity from patient care. Access for 30 million people in 5 million households that can live longer, be more productive for insurances as low as 100k per family of 4 in a year.

Question: how do we design for this? Healthcare has continued to defy all attempt at public investments in Nigeria. Why? How do you scale cheaper and more affordable health insurances that enhances access while maintaining quality of care?

This study concluded that (Nigeria’s) health care expenditure had no significant impact on economic growth..in fact was ZERO for 2019. For a population of 200 million that is extremely depressing.
