I asked @JoeBiden for his view of the news from @realBobWoodward that POTUS in early Feb. knew how deadly COVID19 was despite how much he downplayed the threat.

Biden: “It's disgusting. We learned this on the day that 100 - it turned 190,000 Americans dead and he knew this?...
2/ “...I understand he had just gotten off the phone when he did the first interview with Woodward, he'd just gotten off the phone with Xi Jinping, where he's praising Xi Jinping about transparency, and this is nothing to worry about and this is gonna go away like a miracle....
3/“... What in God’s name would a man like - I mean I don't get it. I truly don't get it. It's like what he - the way he talks about our veterans I mean, it's just astounding to me.”
4/ I noted that POTUS told Woodward March 19 "I wanted to always play it down. I still like playing it down because I don't want to create a panic." And that this afternoon he said similar and added that “leadership is about confidence.”
5/ Biden: “Yeah and that's why we have no confidence in his leadership. I mean if - Look. You saw what Columbia Medical School pointed out in March. Had he acted one week earlier, there'd be over 31,000 more people alive....
6/ “... He acted two weeks earlier, there would've been 50 some thousand people alive. This caused people to die. And what did he do the whole time? He acknowledged this, you breathe it it's in the air and he won't put on a mask....
7/“... he's talking about its ridiculous to put on a mask, what do you need social distancing for? Why have any of these rules?

“It was all about making sure the stock market didn't come down, that his wealthy friends didn't lose any money,...
8/“... and that he could say anything that in fact anything that happened had nothing to do with him. He waved a white flag. He walked away, he didn't do a damn thing. Think about it. Think about what he did not do, it's almost criminal.”

1/Folks are noting “there’s always a tweet” re the below but backstory is illustrative.

On Feb 22, 2013, the WaPo published a @realBobWoodward oped about the “$85 billion in ugly and largely irrational federal spending cuts set by law to begin Friday.”

washingtonpost.com/opinions/bob-w…
2/ Woodward said in 2013 that Obama’s desire to replace the automatic spending cuts (called the “sequester”) with a new package that helped reduce the deficit via tax increases as well as spending cuts was “moving the goal posts.”

(It was.)
3/ Concluded Woodward: Obama’s “call for a balanced approach is reasonable, and he makes a strong case that those in the top income brackets could and should pay more. But that was not the deal he made.”

I see some outlets covering this as just another twitter fight but everything Cryer wrote is factually accurate. Links below.

Can’t weigh in on the other, I’ve never seen Two And A Half Men. Sorry.

NEW: Biden campaign responds to news of ODNI stopping in person congressional briefings on election interference

Biden spokesman @AndrewBatesNC:

"As Joe Biden has said, the escalating menace of election interference undermines ‘the vote and the voice of every U.S. citizen.’...
2/“... It constitutes an attack on our sovereignty as a nation and our very way of life.

“Donald Trump has actively solicited foreign interference multiple times with respect to three countries that we know about: Russia, China, and Ukraine...
3/“... For his administration to constrain the information being provided to the peoples' representatives in Congress as this national security threat multiplies -- especially given Donald Trump's unprecedented welcoming of these assaults on our democracy for his own gain -- ...

.@RepAdamSchiff: ODNI "proposed coming to brief us in mid-September. They have now canceled the briefings that they proposed. So someone has given an edict that they cannot brief the Congress any further on how foreign nations are trying to interfere in the election...
2/ “And we have certainly seen the president both impervious to being told himself about election interference by the Russians and irate when the intelligence community did brief Congress on election interference by the Russians...
3/“... “In fact, it has been reported that was one of the reasons he fired (former ODNI Admiral Joseph) Maguire, is because Maguire briefed Congress on election interference by the Russians...

.@AdamSchiff & @SpeakerPelosi: “The Office of the Director of National Intelligence has informed us that it will no longer provide briefings to Members of Congress, including the House and Senate Intelligence committees, on foreign efforts to interfere in our upcoming election...
2/"...This is a shocking abdication of its lawful responsibility to keep the Congress currently informed, and a betrayal of the public’s right to know how foreign powers are trying to subvert our democracy. This intelligence belongs to the American people,...
3/"...not the agencies which are its custodian. And the American people have both the right and the need to know that another nation, Russia, is trying to help decide who their president should be...

BREAKING: A sr administration official tells CNN that the Office of the Director of National Intelligence has informed the House/Senate Select Committees on Intelligence that ODNI will no longer be briefing them on election security issues in person — instead: written updates.
2/ So far no comment yet from ODNI, or the Senate/House committees.

The official notes that other agencies supporting election security including DOJ DOD and DHS intend to continue briefing congress.
3/ The House and Senate select Committees on Intelligence generally prefer in person briefings where they can ask questions, challenge assumptions and provide actual in person oversight.
