Back in the #FisheriesBill committee. Today Labour MPs will be seeking to protect a clause that would see more fish landed in UK ports. Bizarrely the Tories are arguing that more jobs should be created in foreign ports by not requiring fish caught in our waters to be landed here
Conservative MPs now opposing Labour’s jobs in coastal communities amendment - bizarrely Tory MPs backing boats landing huge amounts of fish caught in our waters in foreign ports. The Conservatives are exporting jobs which is a clear betrayal of our coastal towns
Tory MPs now arguing that is OK that foreign ports get the jobs they promised British ports would get with Brexit. Bizarre reversal of their usual Brexit arguments. Labour is arguing to land more fish in British ports creating more jobs in coastal communities
Tory MPs now voting against creating jobs in British ports by requiring more fish to be landed here. Bizarre the Tories are betraying coastal communities and the promises they made during Brexit to those towns.
Conservative MPs have just defeated Labour’s amendment to ban supertrawlers over 100m fishing in the UK’s marine protected areas. Our amendment would have delivered @GreenpeaceUK’s supertrawler campaign. With such huge public support for this campaign this is a disappointing move
Tory MPs have just voted down a proposed clause promoting recreational fishing in the #FisheriesBill committee. Odd considering the huge economic benefit recreational fishing represents in all parts of the country
Tory MPs have just voted to remove clause 27 of the #FisheriesBill that would have allocated more fishing quota to new entrants and boats under 10metres. It seems Tories are opposed to every measure that would help create jobs in our coastal towns in this bill. How odd.

MPs are now voting whether Parliament should have a vote on future trade deals. This amendment has been proposed by a Tory backbencher and I’m voting for it. Taking back control doesn’t mean unaccountable power held by Ministers. Government whipping against it. Ask yourself why?
Government defeats amendment to give Parliamentary scrutiny over future trade bills by 263 to 326. So if a US trade deal undercuts British farmers our scope for defeating it just got a whole lot harder
MPs are now voting on preserving food and farming standards in future trade deals. Lots of Tory MPs who were vocal on the same amendment last time have lost their voices this time. Another sign that Tories are taking rural voters for granted.
