McConnell on GOP COVID-19 relief bill: "Today,we're going to vote.Every Senator will be counted.Should we move fwd w/floor process to deliver hundreds of billions of dollars more for kids, jobs & health care?Should we at least vote to move fwd & have this debate out in the open?"
McConnell: "Or do our Democratic colleagues prefer to hid behind closed doors and refuse to help families before the election? Well, we'll find out in a couple of hours."
McConnell to Schumer:"That's a Washington gaffe when a politician actually says what he really thinks.Democratic Ldr just told us how poisonous his thinking has become...Republicans aren't our enemies.Democrats aren't our enemies.Coronavirus is the enemy."
McConnell concludes ahead of Senate procedural vote on GOP COVID-19 relief bill:"Senators who share the Democratic Ldr's toxic attitude, who think the real enemy are their political opponents,I assume will follow their political opponents I assume will follow his lead & vote No."
McConnell: "Senators who want to move forward will vote Yes. They'll vote to advance this process so we can shape it into a bipartisan product and make a law for the American people...Today, they'll see exactly who has their backs."
Schumer:"Today, the Senate will take a rather pointless vote on the latest, highly partisan Republican emaciated COVID relief bill. Now, the Republican Ldr keeps claiming his bill is an attempt at a bipartisan solution..Mr Ldr, go look up in the dictionary what bipartisanship is."
Schumer: "Now, the Republican Leader claims the vote this week will expose Democratic obstruction and delay, another one of these Alice in Wonderland-type statements. But of course, Democrats weren't the ones who said let's put the Senate on pause. Who said that?"
Schumer: "So while the President was lying to the American people about the coronavirus, Senate Republicans were following suit in spirit. The Republican Leader talked about the lack of urgency in his caucus to address the problem."
Schumer:"McConnell this morning demanded Dems name exactly what we oppose in their bill like it was some kind of challenge?..How about DeVos school choice plan that wld funnel $ into private schools while he neglected real needs of our public schools?Democrats would oppose that."
Schumer on Senate on GOP COVID-19 relief bill:"Once this bill is defeated,if past is prologue, there's actually a significant chance the public heat on many GOP Senators as they go back home will have them come to their sense, and they'll start negotiating w/us in a serious way."
Schumer on Russia & 2020 election: "Before we leave for the election, there has to be an all Senators briefing on the threat from Putin to our election."

McConnell: "It does not contain every idea our party likes. I am confident Democrats will feel the same. Yet Republicans believe the many serious differences between our two parties should not stand in the way of agreeing where we can agree and making law that helps our nation."
McConnell: “Last month, more than 100 House Democrats publicly asked Speaker Pelosi to stop stonewalling and let them vote on targeted COVID-19 relief. She ignored them, just like her piecemeal postal legislation ignored American families."

McConnell from Senate floor ahead of vote on Sanders amdt to defense policy bill: “We’ve moved on from defunding local police to defunding the United States Armed Forces...Senator Sanders’ amdt would literally decimate the defense budget."
McConnell on Sanders amdt: "It would rip 10% of it right out and pour the money into all the usual socialist fantasies, free rent, free college, free everything for everyone."
McConnell: "Now, in light of the long-held views of our colleague from Vermont, a proposal like this may not be particularly shocking. What is remarkable is that the Democratic Leader, the leader of their caucus, felt pressured into endorsing it."
