John Ware has accused 'Corbynites' including @schneiderhome of omitting evidence.

Ironically, the controversial @bbcpanorama he presented last year did exactly that...
This is how an email authored by Seumas Milne was presented to viewers in a key sequence of the programme:

“…we need to review…

…muddling up political disputes with racism”

And this is what Milne actually said in the email:
"if we’re more than very occasionally using disciplinary action against Jewish members for antisemitism, something’s going wrong, and we’re muddling up political disputes with racism. Quite apart from this specific case, I think going forward we need to review"...
The specific case was that of Jewish activist Glyn Secker who had been suspended for antisemitism. Milne was responding in the email to a request by the governance team for his "view?"
Then head of disputes Sam Matthews had himself expressed doubts about the case in an email quoted in @UKlabour's pre-broadcast reply to Panorama. The reply added in emboldened text:
"We would consider a failure to include this as being a deliberate attempt to mislead viewers as to the facts in order to support a pre-determined narrative"...
But the programme did exclude it, along with any mention that Secker was Jewish or that Milne's email was expressing concern about Jewish members facing disciplinary action for antisemitism...
The BBC has since repeatedly insisted that Labour was given a "full right of reply", including in a recent submission to the High Court...
But it has ignored requests for comment on the above example and other new evidence suggesting the programme gravely misled viewers:

9 times out of 10 when people in Britain talk about protecting press freedom what they really mean is protecting press power...
There are two great myths that sustain this narrative. First that digital disruption has resulted in platform monopolies (eg Google) and/or new entrants (eg the Canary) are eclipsing the influence of newspaper owners and editors. This couldn't be further from the truth...
Empirical evidence overwhelmingly shows that major algorithms like Google News tend to favour 'legacy' media - including national newspapers - over alternative or partisan online media like the Canary...

Apologies for a long but important thread:

John Ware – presenter of last year’s controversial Panorama episode on antisemitism in the Labour Party – has published an in-depth article decrying allegations of sabotage against Corbyn’s leadership...
In a 3K word piece he manages to overlook virtually all of what seems to be the most compelling evidence of sabotage...
For instance, Ware acknowledges that "the leaked report does contain enough private messaging to prove that many in Labour’s senior management team were praying for a humiliating Corbyn defeat [...] But that’s very different from saying they actively sought to bring it about"...

When, two Times journalists started promoting their forthcoming book on Twitter by suggesting it would expose the reality of factionalism in Corbyn's Labour, my first thought was that they were trying to exploit Left Twitter to drum up pre-sales...
Then I began to wonder whether, just maybe, these journalists might actually do what journalists are supposed to do - what virtually none of their colleagues had done for 5 years - and actually interrogate discrepancies between the dominant story and the overwhelming evidence...
Sadly, today's extract in the Sunday Times weighs in favour of my initial scepticism. The journalists paint a picture of Labour's GE19 campaign as riddled with internal conflict, portraying Corbyn as at once a meddling control freak and a useless bystander in his own campaign...

Unfortunately this is not quite an 'analysis' of any sort. It is riddled with baseless assumptions and inaccuracy that should not have even passed the editorial threshold for an opinion piece...

theguardian.com/politics/2020/…
For a start, the journalist's description of the leaked report as 'rambling' betrays a barely disguised slant. And the suggestion that it was leaked to Novara Media is just wrong (it was first leaked to Sky News)...
But above all, the assertion that there is "no proof" of sabotage is plainly absurd. The report documents conversations between former staffers in May 17 that unequivocally reference "a secret key seats team" that was set up and intended to be kept secret from the leadership...

Here's another THREAD on the circle that @UKLabour are trying to square. Sam Matthews told @BBCPanorama it was an "outrage" that the party was going to let Ken Livingstone "back in" after his 2-year suspension...
What neither Matthews nor the programme mentioned was that his own team had failed to act on antisemitism complaints about Livingstone during his initial period of suspension, which could have prevented his readmission to the party...
Buzzfeed reported in May 2019 that the Governance and Legal Unit (during the period Matthews was head of disputes) took no action on these complaints for an astonishing nine months after they were first lodged, and for two months after repeated appeals by the leader’s office...

Apologies for long thread and appreciate I may lose a few followers for this. But I know I'm not the only one who has concerns about this JVL statement, even after its revision...

We're on much firmer ground in defending Peake, RLB and exposing the cynical opportunism of Starmer if we acknowledge that any alleged link between Israel and the killing of George Floyd plays to a dangerously and virulently antisemitic theme, even if clearly unintentional..
Of course there is nothing wrong with pointing out use of the same technique by Israeli police against Palestinians. But that's far removed from the implied assignment of some kind of responsibility or culpability to Israel for the death of George Floyd...
