30 years ago today: the block of Disney programming on local stations in syndication was given a name , The Disney Afternoon. #Joshuaonline Image
The block started the year before with no name, and also is party a reason why FOX kids exists. The block ran with the name until 1997. The market place was being squeezed and Disney also had focus on their new SAT am block on ABC. #Joshuaonline
Most stations that aired the block had to push it to a different time or give up on it to fit, Fox Kids, Kids WB or UPN kids ,or drop it for programs for adults that would get them more money. Eventually the block was replaced by Disney's One To on UPN in 1999. #Joshuaonline

My favorite Peanuts Movie is "Race for Your Life , Charlie Brown" I wish it had more boat race , but it's still a fun movie. #Peanuts70
Now, I will say that "A Boy Named Charlie Brown" is the best Peanuts movie, and it's the first movie, It does a good job of feeling cinematic , overall, it's my 3rd in my list of the 5 movies. (There's no movie I dislike from Peanuts) #Peanuts70
"Bon Voyage, Charlie Brown (and Don't come back)" is my second favorite. there's something to it that I enjoy. Plus you get to see Snoopy drive a car. It has a slightly darker tone to it at last 3rd #Peanuts70

Charlie Brown was first introduced on October 2, 1950 ,he's the only of the main characters from the start to stay a main character. #Peanuts70 #CharlieBrownDay His name appeared first in "Li'l Folks" in May 1948
Early Charlie Brown was more assertive, snarky and playful than what he would become later. #CharlieBrownDay
Snoopy eventually ended up being Charlie Brown's dog, earlier strips didn't have a noted owner. His father is a barbe, and mother a housewife #CharlieBrownDay

Shermy was first introduced on October 2, 1950. He was first named on December 18, 1950 #ShermyDay
Even though, he was one of the first characters , Shermy wasn't long for the cast as he became more background when new characters were introduced. Even his role as Charlie Brown's best friend was handed over to Linus #ShermyDay
He did appear in a few specials like "A Charlie Brown Christmas" , "Charlie Brown's All Stars" , "It's the Great Pumpkin", "It was a short summer, Charlie Brown" a bunch of silent roles in specials and movies too #ShermyDay
