@MarianaBaabar Re: Your question of whether the Quaid would have gone towards the Soviets or America here are excerpts from his interview with Margaret Bourke-White a Life Magazine photojournalist in September '47: What plans did he have for the industrial development of the 2/
2/ country? Did he hope to enlist technical or financial assistance from America? "America needs Pakistan more than Pakistan needs America," was Jinnah's reply. "Pakistan is the pivot of the world, as we are placed" -- he revolved his long forefinger in bony circles -- "the 3/
3/ Frontier on which the future position of the world revolves." He leaned toward me, dropping his voice to a confidential note. "Russia," confided Mr. Jinnah, "is not so very far away."

This had a familiar ring. In Jinnah's mind this brave new nation had no other claim on 4/
4/American friendship than this - that across a wild tumble of roadless mountain ranges lay the land of the BoIsheviks. I wondered whether the Quaid-i-Azam considered his new state only as an armored buffer between opposing major powers. He was stressing America's military 5/
5/ interest in other parts of the world. "America is now awakened," he said with a satisfied smile. Since the United States was now bolstering up Greece and Turkey, she should be much more interested in pouring money and arms into Pakistan. "If Russia walks in here," he 6/
6/ concluded, "the whole world is menaced." In the weeks to come I was to hear the Quaid-i-Azam's thesis echoed by government officials throughout Pakistan. "Surely America will build up our army," they would say to me. "Surely America will give us loans to keep Russia from 7/
7/ walking in." But when I asked whether there were any signs of Russian infiltration, they would reply almost sadly, as though sorry not to be able to make more of the argument. "No, Russia has shown no signs of being interested in Pakistan."

This hope of tapping the U. S. 8/
8/ Treasury was voiced so persistently that one wondered whether the purpose was to bolster the world against Bolshevism or to bolster Pakistan's own uncertain position as a new political entity. Actually, I think, it was more nearly related to the even more significant 9/
9/ bankruptcy of ideas in the new Muslim state -- a nation drawing its spurious warmth from the embers of an antique religious fanaticism, fanned into a new blaze.

Jinnah's most frequently used technique in the struggle for his new nation had been the playing of opponent 10/
10/ against opponent. Evidently this technique was now to be extended into foreign policy. Ends. So, Mariana Bibi, you can see that the #GhairatBrigades 'doctrine' about Pakistan being the pivot of the World, and which has brought us so much pain and sorrow and heartbreak, 11/
11/ indeed due to which we lost half our country and countless thousands of lives to terror is not new! God help us! C.c. @mazdaki @GulBukhari @NasimZehra @JehangirJm @ZulfiRao1

Two beautiful experiences happened/are happening to me today: 1) I went to Lowe's the hardware folk to buy a sack of birdfeed for my teeming feeder. My debit card was not accepted because a return payment had not been credited. The lady my age who was tending the cash out said 2/
2/ 'Wait. We can't let the birds go hungry and paid the $32.60 herself. I was AWE struck and thanked her. No, honey, go feed the birds! P.S. @M_Suharwardy she was a 'Tori'. 2) I am now watching the eclipse. The moon is 7/8th it's size, it is getting dark, the birds are in 3/
3/ (Sorry, Muzamal, GORI!!). ...their nests, it is almost dusk at 3.45 PM. Subhan Teri Qudrat I say, wondering about the vastness of the Universe and the insignificance of us creatures. I mean if our earth is a mote of dust in the Universe, we humans must be motes of dust on 4/

Disagree totally! UNPRECEDENTED Janab Farooqi Sahib? UNPRECEDENTED? Does your understanding of Pakistan's political history start with this cruel #Dolt's being foisted upon the country through blatant rigging and end with his being kicked out of office? Forgotten ZAB's 2/
2/ judicial assassination? Forgotten the huge bombing of Benazir's procession that killed upwards of 500 poor political workers, wounded hundreds more, she herself being shot in the head? Forgotten Mr. Nawaz Sharif's imprisonment in Attock Fort and the death sentence awarded 3/
3/ him. You two gents have forgotten the repeated dismissals of 5 PMs, ALL elected? Forgotten the years long jailing of Benazir in Sukkur Jail next to the lunatics barracks, the jail staff supplying them with brickbats to throw on her barracks roof? Forgotten the awful 4/

I am surprised you've only JUST found that we are not a 'serious country', young man! Let me tell you a little story. While ZAB was undergoing his 'murder' trial in the LHC (not Sessions) he used to be brought to court in the back of an open police van, sitting on a cane chair 2/
2/ the jail doctor had recommended it due to ZAB's bad back. One day the chair was missing and when he asked why, he was told,'Hukam nahein hai'. So he refused to sit on the wooden benches. Telephones jangled and one hour later a chair was produced. He arrived in the court 2 3/
3/ hours late. Maulvi Mushtaq roared, 'WHY are you late'? ZAB said, 'My Lord, you know why'. 'Don't talk to me like that, you criminal' Maulvi shouted (Not 'accused', mark). ZAB: 'My Lord, don't shout at me, I am a former President and PM of the country'. 'You are a criminal, 4/

2/ Which quite obviously means NO action will be taken against the great Bajwa, nor against his aiders and abettors Faiz and Ghafoor who, 1) conspired with the Judiciary to remove Mr. Nawaz Sharif from office, disqualify him for life and jail him to make way for the 3/
3/ #FascistGoof who they then #RIGGED into office. And who then proceded to destroy the poor country's Economy, Social Mores, and Foreign Relations. AND who brought the Army to a near mutiny. Indeed, Ghafoor also called better Pakistanis than him who live abroad for fear of 4/

Spot On. BUT we must be mindful about OTHER politicians Human Rights!!
2/ The crackdown on Imran Khan 'Sahib's' ill-read young supporters who went to the extent of beheading Capt. Karnail Sher Khan's statue is certainly 'draconian'. Well, so was the lifelong disqualification and jailing of 'Nawaz Sharif' under a compact between the then ISI chief 3/
3/ Faiz which is documented and filmed. As was the arrest of many of his party's leaders by NAB, including a former ELECTED PM, yes, @ShahidKhaqanA on fabricated charges where his NAB jailers did not know the difference between 'LNG' and 'CNG'😂😁🤣!! When the disgraceful 'Sar 4/

Indeed! Also, @baqirsajjad makes no mention of: 1) That PM Nawaz Sharif was dismissed from office and jailed in a sham case by a Kangaroo Court, the Judiciary acting in consort with the Army to make way for Imran who was then MASSIVELY #Rigged into power by the Army in broad 2/
2/ daylight and on Live TV; 2) He does not say that Project Imran was fathered by 4 COASs and 5 DGs ISI over 20 years; 3) Nor that Imran's sit-in In Islamabad was engineered by the Army which resulted in massive trouble for citizens, and when PTI thugs led by none other than 3/
3/ the present 'President' of Pakistan attacked and ransacked Pakistan Television; 3) Whilst he talks about the 'poor government policies' of the present government he does not tell us that the economy took a nose dive during Imran's time, the Rupee falling from 105.00 to 4/
