UPDATE: upon sending this petition to the two Presidents, @JonMcTaggart replied to me with a letter that I would feel obliged to reprint, were it not nearly word-for-word identical to the statement just released by Classical MPR:
The statement is notable for a few reasons. Chief among them, though, is their own self-stated standard for how equity, diversity, and representation is measured by the station, as they themselves proudly highlight in this paragraph:
This statement appears to imply that @ClassicalMPR equates — at minimum, in their statistics on representation — broadcasting a Mozart aria sung by Dawn Upshaw or a Chopin Ballade performed by Lang Lang with broadcasting a composition by Tania León or Alvin Singleton.
If this is how the station — and likewise, American Public Media — is self-evaluating itself, it is clear that they and McQueen have been on vastly different pages throughout his tenure there. Meanwhile, the station is claiming that this was essentially a *procedural* issue.
I don't want to center myself any further in this, so I'm stopping for now.

But from my angle, their response raises more questions than it answers, and I will be saying so to the Presidents. If you agree, their handles are ⬆️ and their emails are here:

Sorry, last thing — if their response satisfies you, you can write me at judd (at) juddgreenstein (dot) com and I will remove you from the petition, no questions asked :)
