Taylor has, to my eye, an 18th century look, like a judge of that epoch.
Lord Eskgrove from my copy of Cockburn’s “Memorials of his Time”.
A Lord Braxfield story from the same book ( the last judge to speak broad Scots, or Scotch as Cockburn wrote).
A similar story of another judge, Lord Swinton and an advocate called George Cranstoun.
My copy of this fascinating book full of vivid images and character sketches of leading personalities in a Scotland then fast disappearing. I think I got it at Voltaire & Rousseau bookshop in Hillhead when I was a student. End
