The Redeemed Christian Church of God, popularly known by its acronym RCCG, is one of the fastest growing churches in the world, spreading to over 179 countries in the world.
The church was born in 1952 in a vision God showed the founder of the mission- Late Pa Akindayomi.

In Pa Akindayomi’s account of his encounter with God in the vision, he said God told him the church would go to the ends of the earth and that when the Lord Jesus Christ appeared in glory, He would meet the church.
After Pa Akindayomi’s death at age 71, I took over as the General Overseer of RCCG in the year 1981, not by merit but by divine appointment which had already been revealed to Pa Akindayomi before his death.
Although there were several controversies after I assumed office, my appointment was formalized by the reading of Pa Akindayomi's sealed pronouncement after his burial.
Ever since I started as the General of the mission, the church has grown exponentially to several parts of the world and produced many dedicated and devoted ministers of the kingdom.
