Unemployment rates are based only on those actively looking for jobs, versus those with jobs. Last time I checked, retired people and stay-at-home parents — which represent 15% and 18% of the population, respectively — are not counted in that rate. #ActBlue
So if you take 33% of the population, plus 2019's 4% unemployment rate, you're at 37% when talking the entire nation. But not everyone donates, so that skews numbers. Like where 15% are retired, but 20% of your donations come from retirees. It's a smaller pool of donors.
How could Lindsey Graham have 20% retiree donation if only 15% of the country is retired? The same way you can have 50% unemployed donation rates for a country that is only 37% unemployed. Smaller pools will skew the broader numbers. #ActBlue
That's not to suggest that maybe there are indeed reporting problems with #ActBlue's system. But those are reporting problems that span all across our electoral process, including those that don't come through third party candidates.
I reviewed the first 10 individual donors who come up in an FEC search of @LindseyGrahamSC's 2019-20 donors. Of those 10, 60% either are unemployed (retired) or list no employment information. These are donations totaling just under $20,000. #ActBlue

So there is a bit of an anniversary tomorrow, Aug. 13. It will be 22 years since I first launched SyFy World. And yes, that predates @SYFY and @SYFYWIRE and all that, because they bought the name from me, haha! But yeah, I miss what became SyFy Portal (and then Airlock Alpha)
Sometimes I think I should resurrect it. But I'd have to build it from the ground up, and I don't have the same resources as some of the biggest sites. So if I ever did do it, I would have to find something that would be different from everyone else.
But yes, wish @SYFY and @SYFYWIRE a happy 22nd birthday, at least their name (even though they've only had it for about 11 years hehe).
I am a little irked about @DS9Doc. I rarely donate to projects, but I am a huge #StarTrekDS9 fan, and so I donated. I forgot there were perks involved, until I received an email telling me that a shipping label had been printed in my name to receive a DVD. 1/x
I mean, that was really nice, because I totally forgot there would be any perks, and wasn't really expecting any. But I was dismayed because the address @DS9Doc sending to was an old one in Florida, and not my current Bronx address. 2/x
I immediately reached out to @DS9Doc and was told it was too late. They had already shipped (even though my email just said a label had been made, and it had not been picked up yet). They had asked us for updated addresses, but not me. I never received an email asking that. 3/x
