Minneapolis Public Housing Authority Votes To Subsidize Somalis’ Trips Back To Africa

“Virtually all Somalis who live in the US came here (we are told) as poor refugees.
So how persecuted and fearful of returning home are they if many travel back and forth to Africa and taxpayers of MN cover most of their rent?...” Ann Corcoran of Refugee Resettlement Watch.
Somali city council member Abdi Warsame said common reasons for travel abroad include visiting families left behind or participating in the hajj, the pilgrimage to Mecca that Muslims are expected to make at least once.
“This was brought up to us again and again and again in every building we visited in our ward. Everybody was afraid to leave the country,” Warsame told the Star Tribune.
Warsame told the board that the policy in place for the past five years works a particular hardship on elderly East Africans who must save for long periods if they want to visit their homelands.
He said that many receive federal Supplemental Security Income, which is halted when the recipient is outside the United States.
The Minneapolis Public Housing Authority board now has two members of Somali descent, Mohamud Tamir and Abdullahi Isse. The agency’s resident advisory board also backed the change in rent policy for extended absences.”

Remember the heady days of 2020? Progressives trained by the richest universities in the land suddenly had the chance to remake America in their image, the way they had always dreamed of doing.
The result was so obvious and crushing a failure that one is no longer supposed to talk about it.
Four years later, the power elite have discovered that their cosplay revolution is seen as merely ridiculous. Minority groups don’t want the new names that have been issued to them.

Overall crime in New York City dropped in 2023 over 2022; we’re still the “safest big city in America,” as Mayor Adams boasted recently — but that’s cold comfort when we’re still far behind 2019, the last year before the destructive effects of our criminal-justice “reforms” made themselves visible.

In a 9-0 decision, the Supreme Court ruled states cannot use section 3 of the 14th Amendment to kick Donald Trump off state ballots over his alleged “insurrectionist” actions on Jan. 6, 2021.
Learning that state officials aren’t empowered to simply toss leading presidential candidates off ballots came as a great surprise to many incredulous left-wingers.
