Thread (1)...Growing up my autistic son never got invited to parties didn't receive cards, family would ring and say you can come but your son can't, as the years passed family and freinds stopped visiting stopped calling,no cards or presents or birthday invitations......
(2) when he reached 21 he received only 3 cards one was from our dog, as a parent I felt like I had failed, this was me ,my fault, so I joined Twitter and did a appeal for cards the first year 300 the second nearly a thousand......
(3) the joy in my sons face as he opened every single card brought tears to my eyes, every day he would come in to more and more cards, giggling with excitement, the truth is I dont know if my son would like to go to a party as hes never been to one .....
(4) but I would like to find out , would he giggle and laugh with excitement as he did opening his birthday cards ? I dont know. But I do hope that one day this world becomes more acceptable of our amazing children.
