Here's the agenda for this evening's Wilmot council meeting (Monday, September 14). It starts at 7pm, and you can get the full agenda here: calendar.wilmot.ca//townshipcalen…. Watch the meeting live - youtube.com/channel/UCcA8f… - or follow this thread 👇 ImageImageImageImage
There seems to be an issue getting the live-stream up on YouTube. Nothing to see here, yet.
I can hear Coun Gordijk in our basement (!), and the meeting has started, but it isn't available to the public via YouTube.
This is a new link for the meeting, which isn't the one on the township's website:
First delegation: Indigenous Worker for Wilmot Family Resource Centre - Sister Anne Keffer, Dorothy Wilson, Gladys Bender and Reverend Margret Walker, Wilmot Ecumenical Working Group
Sister Anne Keffer is speaking, and referring to the slides that are shown in the agenda package (page 61 onwards). Image
The group is working to raise funds to hire an Indigenous worker in Wilmot. These are some of the fundraising events. Image

Reverend Walker is now talking about active reconciliation. Image
Dorothy Walker references Wilmot Strategic Plan and notes that council has shown positive steps by introducing a land acknowledgement, and addressing concerns about the PM Path. Image
Coun Gordijk says she's been to some of the events mentioned. In response to Coun Gordijk's question, Sister Anne Keffer suggest that they will be asking the township to pay half the cost of the part-tie salary for the Indigenous worker.
Coun Pfenning asks about the hiring process. Reverend Walker says that will be handled by the Wilmot Family Resource Centre.
We're now on to the Nachurs Alpine Municipal Drain 2020 report by Dawn Mittelholtz (Director of Clerk's Services/Director of Information and Legislative Services). Jeremy Taylor (Project Engineer) is giving a presentation.
Donna Kampf and her husband Martin are a delegation to speak on this matter. Mr Taylor is answer the Kampfs' questions and clarifying how the work will affect their property.
The next delegation is Kerry Secura (sorry if the spelling is correct; this name is not in the agenda). She says she's happy with the application.
Darcy Miller is the next delegation. He says he is in support of this petition, too.
Moving on to the Consent Agenda. No items have been moved to the regular agenda by council. Both items are approved.
Andrew Martin (Manager of Planning/EDO) is now giving a report about Zoning Change Application 06/20 (2232 Nafziger Road, Phillipsburg). There was a letter from the owner of a neighbouring lot, which Mr Martin addresses. This is in the agenda package.
Coun Gordijk thanks Mr Martin for working with the Rieperts (the neighbours) and herself to clarify details of the application.
Deonisie Ardlean (the applicant) is a delegation about this application, and he thanks Mr Martin and township staff for their help.
Debbie Riepart (spelling?) owns the adjacent property, and she is speaking about her disappointment with the proposed zone change. She was told in thew past that severance was not an option. She feels blindsided.
Coun Gordijk asks Mr Martin about the Rieparts' concerns about water pressure drop off. Mr Martin gives details about wells on the property.
Coun Pfenning asks if the septic system is one of the ones that would need to be tested? Mr Martin says it isn't.
RECOMMENDATION
THAT Council approve Zone Change Application 06/20 by Deonisie Ardelean and Priszcilla Ardelean to amend the zoning of the property by deleting Section 22.206 of Zoning By-law 83-38, as amended.

Carried.
Jeff Molenhuis (Director of Public Works) introduces Bryan Bishop (Manager of Engineering), who gives a report about the Morningside Sanitary Trunk Sewer.

The recommendation is carried.
Mr Bishop is now giving a report about the Automated Speed Enforcement Program Implementation Plan. The goal is reduce traffic speeds in school zones. New Dundee P.S. is the proposed first installation location. The Region of Waterloo will be responsible for administration.
Coun Fisher asks for clarification of the factors that are considered for choosing the proposed location.
Coun Gordijk asks if there is a timeline for the other placements. Mr Bishop says that there isn't a timeline right now. Coun Gordijk says she thinks that Bridge St in New Dundee is good choice of location.
Coun Pfenning says there are a number of other locations that could also use speed enforcement, but she agrees that this is the priority.

Coun Hallman says she's pleased to see this measure going forward as it will make the community safer.
A delegation (Dave Moore?) says he's pleased to see speed enforcement near the school, as he often sees speeding traffic there.
Carried. Image
Next: Correspondence has been received for information.

Coun Gordijk says she received an email from Carrie Richmond regarding costs for the PM Path, but Ms Richmond hasn't received a reply.
No Notices of Motions.

Coun Gordijk with some announcements. She congratulates the Foxboro Green community, which is celebrating its 25th anniversary.
Coun Gordijk talks about changes to the Wilmot Family Resource Centre's Poor Boys Luncheon.

Hero Day in Wilmot will be celebrating Terry Fox by asking everyone to wear a Terry Fox t-shirt on Friday, Sept 18.
The Wilmot Terry Fox Run is this Sunday, Sept 20. The opening ceremony will be streamed live on Facebook from 9am. facebook.com/wilmotterryfox….
And we're adjourned at 8:19pm.
