Bharat Ratna Sir Mokshagundam Vishweshwarayya is probably the only Indian in whose honour there are four different special postage covers and stamps. I could be wrong. I don't know of any other Indian with this honour. ☺️🙏 Image
We have had thousands, (or is it lakhs, by now? 🤔) of engineers. But nobody's contribution to the nation's development comes close to that of Mokshagundam Vishweshwarayya's. 🙏

In other Carnatic news, today is the 391st Jayanthi Utsavam of poet,saint and composer Kancharla Gopanna, more popular as Bhaktha Ramadasu.

As a Vaggeyakara, he dedicated hundreds of compositions to Lord Rama in Bhadrachalam, or "Dakshina Ayodhya".

Good attempt to remember the great poet saint composer Sri Sridhara Venkatesha Ayyaval.

However this thread has a lot of factual errors that have been spread with hearsay rumours. Will try to correct those.

For that we have to go to the great Maratha rulers of Thanjavur region. Especially the versatile King Sahaji (1684-1710). He was not only a benevolent ruler but a man of arts. He was well-versed in literature and composed musical operas in Telugu, Marathi and Sanskrit. Image
Sahaji was a great patron of artistes, scholars and Pundits. In 1693, he donated a village Tiruvisanallur to 46 families of learned Pundits. The village was renamed Sahajirajapuram. Great scholars of Sanskrit, Veda, Shastra and other allied traditional knowledges lived there.
