If I wasn't convinced that E.C Meyers based his BTD characterization of Neptune off of #Rwby
Chibi before, Neptune literally putting on a mustache and saying he's going to go undercover confirms it. And just like in Rwby Chibi, Neptune is treated like a joke in BTD.

- Thread -
Now while it was revealed that Neptune put effort into being cool, It didn't change that externally he WAS that cool guy. He was able to project what he wanted successfully. In BTD not only does no one think he's cool, but he's treated like an incompetent & clowned by everyone.
In V3 not only is Neptune shown to act confident and cool in front of a ton of people applauding him, but we see he even has fangirls. He only started to "lock-up" and lose his cool when his water phobia was a factor, yet in BTD he gets embarrassed and locks up for a few people.
I won't really get into the controversial water phobia torture moments with Neptune in this book because many others have already talked about it. With these I'm just debunking the idea that Yatsuhashi and Fox didn't know about his phobia, and that Yatsu was *truly* remorseful.
Even after Yatsuhashi apologized to Neptune, he was STILL going to use his phobia against him. Neptune was forced into giving Yatsu & Fox what they wanted just so he wouldn't be tortured again. Yatsu didn't really care about Neptune's phobia, he was just slightly better than Fox.
If you were to ask me why was Neptune done so dirty in Before the Dawn, I would tell you that it's because he's best friends with Sun, and we know what Meyers thinks of Sun.

The disparity between how they treat Cinder and how they treated Adam (Literal plot device for Yang & Blake) couldn't be more apparent. Being that this was his send off season, why not show us Adam's final journey to reach Blake instead of Cinder's?

Cinder Rant Thread 1/6 #rwby
I will never understand why Crwby chose Cinder to be the one they treated with respect. The story that Adam centered around was one of discrimination, meant to mirror our world's. It's something you can understand and with some people, even relate to regardless of his character.
Now when it comes to Cinder what do we have? She's JUST as bad if not worse than Adam, and unlike him she has nothing you can latch on or relate to. It's been 7 years and by Miles's own words the most we know is that she wants to be "God-LvL Badass" in terms of physical power.

All right guys, hear me out. Maybe Ironwood's Semblance doesn't destroy his character in V7 like we thought, if we assume he only used it *once* that is. Others have pointed out that you can see the glow leave his eyes right before he shoots Oscar, a sign of Mettle perhaps? (1/3)
Him shooting Oscar always felt out of place to me, previously they had done well showing his deteriorating sanity, but it still felt like steps were skipped bringing him to that point. But if it was Mettle amping his determination beyond reasoning, it makes a lot more sense. (2/3
The only other time where Ironwood has the same type of strong resolve is when he willingly sears his arm. But since Eddy shut down Miles's implication that Ironwood used Mettle to do that, shooting Oscar *should* be the only time his "hyperfocus" was shown to be in use. #RWBY

I didn't know about Maria's audio queue for her semblance until I watched this review. Did you guys know that makes her the fourth character in the show who can use their Semblance without Aura? Weiss, Blake and Qrow were the first three. Let's break it down. #RWBY
Weiss is shown still being able to create glyphs despite her aura being broken by the knight. Image
Blake is able to use Shadow despite her's being broken, evident when she gets stabbed beforehand.

For some reason there seem to be people who don't think Sun's character was retconned in Before the Dawn. For those people, this thread is for you.

Sun at the start of V6 ALREADY acknowledged that he was a bad leader, and was going to do things differently. #RWBY ImageImageImageImage
Yet the book seems to forget all of this, and makes him full of pride, completely oblivious to the issues of him and his team. It's only around the mid and end of the book when he learns the lesson he *already* knew previously. ImageImageImage
Book Sun is spur of the moment & apparently doesn't think, yet in v1 HE'S the one to tell Blake not to jump in head first to fight Torchwick. Hell in V3 he's the one trying to get the others to listen to reason & not rush into danger. He even calls R&W idiots for not pulling out. ImageImageImageImage

Some of the reasons people are bringing up for why Blake is strong are terrible, as they aren't meant to be empowering moments. Blake KNEW Adam was going to kill the passengers on the train yet she doesn't help them. Selfish ,& arguably sociopathic moment. #Rwby #blakebelladonna ImageImage
Blake running away from her problems is not moments of strength, it's a weakness that she supposedly grows beyond only at the end of V6. Weiss and her friends find out about her being a WF Faunus by slip of the tongue. "She never backs down." Factually incorrect. ImageImageImageImage
Blake leaves her friends and Yang in her most vulnerable state, despite being TOLD by Adam that he was going to kill her. She wasn't even going to ever come back to her team if it wasn't for Sun. And even then, she doesn't go back on her own, The team just show up where she's at. ImageImageImageImage

"There was never two Adams."

Yeah you're right, even if we don't count "Monty's Adam" there's at least THREE three different Adams. V3, V5 and V6 Adam are not the same character. #RWBY #adamtaurus ImageImageImage
Cool, calculated and threatening, V3 Adam was someone who Cinder wanted on her team for his ability to lead others. He was the type of person to look into his ex's eyes and tell her that he's going to destroy everything she loves without so much as flinching. ImageImageImage
Then we have V5 Adam, someone who is easily angered and loses hope at the slightest sign of resistance. Resorts to asking Hazel what next steps they should do when the going gets rough. No leadership qualities. ImageImageImage
