.@SpaceForceCSO: We are entering a defining period for this country in space. We have an expansive spirit of exploration and experimentation.
.@SpaceForceCSO: Our nation is strongest when space is secure and stable. Accessible to enterprising Americans for economic and scientific pursuits.
.@SpaceForceCSO: If deterrence fails, the next major conflict with a peer competitor will be won, or lost, in Space. In order to be ready for this conflict we must be bold. We must innovate.
.@SpaceForceCSO: We must move and think faster, and we must empower and leverage the outstanding talent we have in the Space Force. These imperatives are in the Space Force’s DNA. In fact, it is why the Space Force was established! The Space Force has a bias toward action!
.@SpaceForceCSO: Let me be clear, we do not want to get into a conflict that begins or extends into #space. We want to deter that from happening.
.@SpaceForceCSO: Since establishment we have been in the business of slashing bureaucracy, delegating authority and enhancing accountability at every crossroad.
We just completed the largest reorganization in the history of space.
-We removed 2 echelons of command.
-We’ve also reduced the size of our planned pentagon staff by 40%.
-We’re shortening the distance between decision makers & you, the experts conducting our mission.
.@SpaceForceCSO: We have a unique opportunity to be a disruptive innovator, and an incubator for change across the entire @deptofdefense.
.@SpaceForceCSO: Space Force is a mandate for change.
-We must bring unity of effort across the department
-Reduce duplication of effort
-Slash costs
-All while increasing our speed
.@SpaceForceCSO: We must have the ability to punch back. The unified command plan is clear, we must provide independent options in, through, and from space to ensure freedom of action in all domains.
.@SpaceForceCSO: I will accept moderate risk in order to innovate and experiment to ensure our long-term competitive advantage.
.@SpaceForceCSO: We must also forge stronger partnerships with our sister services. Today, it’s no surprise, we are closely integrated with the @usairforce. We now have to foster this same level of integration across the joint force.
.@SpaceForceCSO: We also get incredible capacity from our total force team. In fact we cannot execute our space missions today without the Air National Guard and Reserve. They deliver wartime surge capacity, operational depth, and seamless day-to-day support to our missions.
.@SpaceForceCSO: We need to build the Space Force as a digital service from the ground up.
.@SpaceForceCSO: As we build this digital service we are focusing on three components. A digital workforce, digital headquarters and digital engineering.
.@SpaceForceCSO: Every single Space Professional should know that they are noticed and needed … They underwrite our ability to be agile and innovative to compete and win.
.@SpaceForceCSO: Today, we get to do something really cool. Bring together Space Professionals from around the world & ceremonially swear them in to the Space Force. From Greenland to Japan to Qatar to Afghanistan and all around the United States.

Today, after a yearlong process that produced hundreds of submissions and research involving space professionals and members of the general public, we can finally share with you the name by which we will be known: Guardians.
The opportunity to name a force is a momentous responsibility. Guardians is a name with a long history in space operations, tracing back to the original command motto of Air Force Space Command in 1983, “Guardians of the High Frontier.”
The name Guardians connects our proud heritage and culture to the important mission we execute 24/7, protecting the people and interest of the U.S. and its allies.
Today, @SpaceForceCSO Gen. John “Jay” Raymond establishes the first of three Space Force Field Commands.
General Stephen N. Whiting will lead Space Operations Command. (@ussfspoc)
.@SpaceForceCSO: General Whiting is the right leader to become the first commander of this command and to accelerate a transformation of space operations. He has mastered command at every level.
.@SpaceForceCSO is speaking with @CNASdc about several topics, including the Space Force stand-up, space accomplishments and the future.
We'll give a little summary of his inspirational words.
🔹Protected our space capabilities in the wake of COVID
🔹Launched the X-37
🔹Supported the 1st Human Space flight from U.S. soil in nearly a decade
🔹Conducted multiple other launches
🔹Today we had the most significant restructure of space units since 1982
