I have had way too much rage since posting Live to my Facebook to be able to make a coherent post but I will one because now this has become too much.

This is what happened!
The entourage begins arriving in "cars"...

@FriehaAltaf moves the water stall and limo soda vendors back from the road (one of the two was giving everything on discount to the protestors but was clearly too ugly to be in this celebrity protests press shots)...
The celebs formed their pretty little protest teeming with their personal PR handlers and photographers...

Naturally all media went to them because over 200 poor transgender women and khwajasiras weren't worth it... And because celebs voices > protestors'
Celebs refused to join in the trans" protest which is literally ON RAPE AND VIOLENT MISOGYNY and YES this includes @sarwatgilani y'all's latest feminist icon (limited only to BBC interviews performism > solidarity)...
They make BS rhetorical fluffy comments about good touch and bad touch, and whatnot...

The trans women leave because all coverage is now gone to cover the pretty celebs in their pretty little "protest"...

The pretty little celebs' pretty little protest ends...
They all go back home in their chaffeur driven vehicles.

Next they post their selfies with probably 2 transgender fans @TheMahiraKhan and joke about being "pro-protestors"
And are now being "lauded" for their bravery by the bandwagon liberals (with zero understanding of representation and who gets seen as saying what and to what end)

10 feet away two transgender women were being threatened with violence AT THAT MOMENT...
Media cameras were being pulled away from the 200 or so transwomen...

And this elitist entitled bunch of losers had the gall to use national trauma for personal PR - practically undoing the very transwomen's protest that was happening 10 feet from them.
Pakistan's core issue will remain classism - and all struggles - all of our struggles must be on dismantling this classist hegemony on rights and safety! And these social climbers now masquerading as the ultimate manifestation of our culture (celebs) better be the first to go.
They are NOT allies - and do NOT confuse their opportunism with support. We did it with the NGOs before and look where it has led us.
We are repeating the same mistakes. Again.

All that glitters is NOT gold.
All people need to divest the movements from celebrities and bring back the resistance home - to the people.
And yes I sound harsh and radical because I am - because we have to be.
This fake fuckery has gone on for far too long and the last thing we can leave to corporate elitism is our pain.
Our pain is NOT for sale.
Fun Fact: Bushra Ansari RANDOMLY walks by and tells Zehrish Khanzadi (a trans leader) and me not to sway too much or else the cameras will catch us and delegitimize our protest by saying we're dancing.
Sure Ma'am. Sure.

It was downright shameful for Jamaat e Islami and Youth Club to spread further HIV stigma in Pakistan just for their own homophobic politics.
None of them has worked in Ratodero, or other communities ravaged with HIV to understand the sheer toll that this stigma has on people
Literal babies were left on the streets and women deserted when the HIV outbreaks (most of them through unsafe medical procedures and needle use) happened. It took years of community development and on the ground action by us public health experts to undo "some" of it
And for Nadeem Kashish and Julie to sit with such people and further spread HIV stigma when half of their own households are on free treatment for HIV BECAUSE of our work is shameless to the nth degree. STOP POLITICIZING INFECTIONS. D

A summary of Julie's statements with M. Butt on the launch of Pakistan's first "Intersex Fund" that has no intersex people in it ironically:

1. There are only men and women, no khwajasiras

2. Khwajasira is a culture and I am not part of the culture, therefore...

Response to "Mehrub is destroying our family system".

If I was the Minister for "Family Affairs", I would start this National Department of "Family Protection" that would do the following.
1. Devise and implement a locally informed conflict resolution, mediation, and anger management course for all couples in Pakistan, available free of cost to attend.
2. Make a paid certification option to train good candidates for mediation and conflict resolution as mediators to work at a local level to conduct such sessions for couples and individuals - basically relationship counselors lite

Joyland - a review - Part 2

THE UNEXPECTED:

1. Punjabi excellence:
Biba's dialogues are entirely in Punjabi. And Aleena Khan delivers Punjabi so perfectly, that I'm certain she's going to become a household name in Indian Punjab very soon.
This is Punjabi artistry at its finest, and it's almost comically ironic that Pakistani Punjab has butchered her and Saim's artistry the most.
It's Pakistan Punjab eating itself from the inside, and if you're a Punjabi lover you'll cry inside every single time you hear Biba muted on the silver screens.

Joyland - a review - Part 1

SUMMARY:

Must watch! 4/5

Joyland is a movie about heterosexuality, money, and "izzat", and the many pains, joys, secrets, and pressures that these three contain - an extremely brave film that has been butchered by the Censor Board needlessly.
Aleena Khan has delivered a performance par excellence; one that has never been seen across South Asian cinema - mostly because a story with a trans lead was never written but also because of the wonderful director-actor relationship.
This is a painfully obvious story that everyone has seen happen across them in Pakistan. But because it's from a fresh lens, it looks like a new perspective altogether. A genius paradigm shift, this could have been our answer to Kapoor And Sons, had our fanatics not ruined it.
