this is an honor that the president appears to have made up
the ceremonial key to the city that's given out in New York is made to look like the one that used to unlock the back door of City Hall - not clear what this one is shaped like
Truman was given a ceremonial key to the White House after the gut renovations were completed during his presidency. But he was the president himself - and what he was given doesn't look like the gold item Trump just handed Netanyahu…
of course, it does not seem irrelevant that both Trump and Netanyahu are facing their own domestic political problems at the moment, and both have eagerly used each other as important validators to show off to their voters
This seems to be a new idea to give a "key to the White House" to a foreign leader, but Obama gave keys to the Cabinet Room in the White House to some secretaries who left. There's also this:

The question of whether President Trump will get to replace Ruth Bader Ginsburg on the Supreme Court before the election essentially comes down to four GOP votes in the Senate, deciding whether they want to give that to him, and to break the principle McConnell invented in 2016.
Among the senators who will be under intense pressure on this question will be Susan Collins, up for election herself and has struggled with how much to attach herself to Trump, and who said after impeachment she thought Trump had learned his lesson about changing behavior.
Murkowski has said she is against an appointment before the inauguration. But that was theoretical. Now it’s real. She’s not up for election this year. Neither is Romney.

RNC chair Ronna McDaniel’s defense of Trump’s comments to Woodward, to @chucktodd is not that there was a plan on the pandemic, but: “Think of what would have happened if he'd have gone out and said, ‘This is awful. We should all be afraid. We don't have a plan.’”
There was, of course, planning that had been done by the pandemic response office created under Obama & closed under Trump. Obama officials had sat w/Trump officials for a run-through of responses. Those got somewhat outdated, but the office was closed & no new plans were made
The defense here mounted to @jaketapper of President Trump’s comments to Woodward is that the *White House trade advisor* wrote a secret memo at the beginning of February saying maybe there was a way to prepare for a vaccine by year’s end

notable wrinkle in fight over printing a 2nd set of ballots in Wisconsin in the hopes of adding more names: the Justice Dept tends to move into such cases to ensure military voters have ballots 45 days prior to the election

The Justice Dept happens to be sitting this one out
Here is a long list on the Justice Department’s website of similar situation where there’s been aggressive intervention in the past:… More than one of these cases was In Wisconsin
For an administration that professes to be very concerned about voting issues, the Justice Department under Trump—and particularly heading into this election—has been extremely inactive on a range of voting rights cases and potential action, as compared to past practices

Biden just now to the Florida delegation to the convention, via Zoom, on Trump:

"I used to think it was because he was callous, but I think it’s because he’s just not smart enough to know what to do. I really mean it. I just don’t think he has it in him to know what to do.”
Biden also said he doesn't think political conventions are ever quite going back:

He said this is "the most creative, inclusive convention we’ve ever had. I doubt we’ll ever go back to the same exact conventions we had in the past. It’s a template for the future.”
Alternative version from Biden on Trump, as said to the PA delegation: “I’m not sure whether he doesn’t understand or that he refuses to prepare...I used to think initially it was because he was just mean spirited, but I just think he’s not capable.”

in 2016, there was an Office of the Director of National Intelligence assessment that was basically ignored. Here's part of a new one:
Russia is using "a range of measures to primarily denigrate former VP Biden and what it sees as an anti-Russia"…
American intelligence states: "pro-Russia Ukrainian parliamentarian Andriy Derkach is spreading claims about corruption--including through publicizing leaked phone calls"

This information has appeared on OANN, and GOP senators & House members have not denied they've taken it too
the ODNI statement also identifies China and Iran as concerns.
"We assess that China prefers that President Trump – whom Beijing sees as unpredictable – does not win reelection."
