Just heard the most horrific stories on @ZaraHatKay_Dawn from advocate Asiya Minur who has been fighting for rape victims in court for last 14 years. I feel cick just hearing the stories...of police saying 'Aap maaf kar dain, Allah hisaab lai ga' to judges leering at victims and
actually telling them in chambers that it is better to compromise. Of a little girl repeatedly raped by her close relative to the point that she lost her eye and bnroke her arm...and family made her forgive him so that relations would not be disturbed. And so much more.
The fact is, that these people then go back into society and rape again. Because they know they will not be punished. And our society enables this. Encourages it. THIS is what is known as Rape Culture.

This is what we know about casualties so far: At around 5AM a day ago PTI issued a list with details of six workers who they said had lost their lives in LEA firing. Later, in a video message Salman Akram Raja claimed 20 had been killed and gave the names of 6, the details of
whom he said had been received. These are Muhammad Ilyas, Anees Satti, Malik Safdar Ali, Mubeen Aurangzeb, Abdul Rasheed and Ahmad Wali.
Zulfi Bokhari claimed 30 and Latif Khosa claimed 278 – which is more or less in keeping with claims being made on social media which say 100 to 200. He also said KP govt would compensate each family with 1 crore each.
In March 2013 a mob ransacked, looted and burned down Joseph colony, a Christian settlement in Lahore. Perpetrators were easily identified by their own pictures. The case went to the Supreme Court and was heard by then CJ Iftikhar Chaudhry
During the hearing the govt lawyer said: "Religiously charged mob was avoided by police as if any of them got killed the issue might have blown out of proportion and spread all across the country,” to which CJ replied:
""Do you mean whenever there is charged mob the police should shy away from confronting them? Should we leave the SC building if any mob attacks and take shelter in Judges colony?”
Just spoke with dr @talhakareem11 who relates this story: on Friday night, a little after iftar police show up at his mother's clinic with detection orders for his mother (mpo) from there she is taken and detained in a dar ul aman facility along with others. They are only told
That the dc multan has issued detention orders. After running around and being stonewalled he and his father finally get an audience with the dc the next day, well into the afternoon, and he says she has been detained for 30 days under MPO. However he then reportedly says that
If dr talha and his father were to sign am affidavit that she will not engage in political activities on Saturday (that is, if she says she will not attent the lahore pti rally) they will reduce detention to one day. At this point his mother, also a doctor, has been transferred
Yes I'm sorry. No one ever recommended books before he did. I apologise. Before him the world was cold and sunless and no birds sang. We made fire with twigs and a rock.
So this is what's clear so far: Ali Bilal WAS in police custody around 4-ish, thus validating Zohaib Kazmi video, which was being denied earlier. Now, as per statements aired by police, Ali Bilal and others then 'escaped' from police van and later, as per same videos, he was run
over by a Revo driven by a driver of a PTI office holder. Driver video has been aired. Images of entire route of Revo have been displayed, minus the actual accident itself. Questions that remain: Will the impact footage be released? Where are other persons who were in the van?
Where is Kashif, the PTI worker who claims he was in the van with Bilal? When was Kashif released? Need his statement to corroborate events. More, as per a forensic doctor i spoke to off record, the injuries in initial report are not consistent with car accident. Explanation:
Nowadays the best way to confuse a situation is not by denying information, but by flooding with so much misleading information that the facts become a matter of opinion.
Add to that the human need to believe what we want to believe, and in fact the neurochemistry of the human brain itself, and you're in a near impossible situation.
The brain literally gets high when you see info that reinforces your existing biases, and info that contradicts you in actually painful to the brain and body defenseone.com/technology/201…
