In March 2013 a mob ransacked, looted and burned down Joseph colony, a Christian settlement in Lahore. Perpetrators were easily identified by their own pictures. The case went to the Supreme Court and was heard by then CJ Iftikhar Chaudhry Image During the hearing the govt lawyer said: "Religiously charged mob was avoided by police as if any of them got killed the issue might have blown out of proportion and spread all across the country,” to which CJ replied:

Just spoke with dr @talhakareem11 who relates this story: on Friday night, a little after iftar police show up at his mother's clinic with detection orders for his mother (mpo) from there she is taken and detained in a dar ul aman facility along with others. They are only told That the dc multan has issued detention orders. After running around and being stonewalled he and his father finally get an audience with the dc the next day, well into the afternoon, and he says she has been detained for 30 days under MPO. However he then reportedly says that

Yes I'm sorry. No one ever recommended books before he did. I apologise. Before him the world was cold and sunless and no birds sang. We made fire with twigs and a rock. If we missed the migration of the brontosauruses the tribe would starve.

So this is what's clear so far: Ali Bilal WAS in police custody around 4-ish, thus validating Zohaib Kazmi video, which was being denied earlier. Now, as per statements aired by police, Ali Bilal and others then 'escaped' from police van and later, as per same videos, he was run over by a Revo driven by a driver of a PTI office holder. Driver video has been aired. Images of entire route of Revo have been displayed, minus the actual accident itself. Questions that remain: Will the impact footage be released? Where are other persons who were in the van?

Nowadays the best way to confuse a situation is not by denying information, but by flooding with so much misleading information that the facts become a matter of opinion. Add to that the human need to believe what we want to believe, and in fact the neurochemistry of the human brain itself, and you're in a near impossible situation.

Okay...you and all the other many many nutjobs...where did I actually say this? Show me. I clearly said for surveillance of outposts and your willingness to twist that shows me that you're not just stupid, but also intellectually dishonest and propagandists. Not a great combo. Sick of you punks. I'm right here. Bring it on.

In the past 2 weeks (or less) accused in #duamanghi case allowed to walk out of mall while being taken 'shopping' by sindh police. Before that @DailyScoopTV1 reports (with video) that police vanished as an influential accused slipped away from court. Before that a policeman Suspected in murdering a newlywed man 'commits suicide' to avoid arrest. He had previously been cleared in a dozen inquiries. What kind of a criminal enterprise is being run here? And sindh govt is going to ignore this as usual? @MuradAliShahPPP

Warning: this is a 'yes, but' tweet: violence and vandalism is unacceptable, but I have to say that what irshad bhatti said was also highly insulting. A sad and hurtful comment that is made too often on national media. But then, if you hire a clown you should expect a circus. Once again: this is not by any means condoning the attack on geo office, which is unacceptable and illegal and counterproductive. I condemn it. But I also call on national media to please avoid hurtful and degrading comments like this, which seem to be far too common now.

Even better, nab asked broadsheet to go after sherpao. Broadsheet found $3.5 million of his, told nab. Govt used that to get sherpao to join patriots. Told broadsheet to remove name. Broadsheet saw their 20% vanish and sued after contract ended. Before the judge, nab said 'we never really intended to go after sherpao even though WE added his name to the list. Judge denied this as he pointed out that this is LITERALLY Nab's job and ruled in favour of broadsheet. Basically they tried to act with broadsheet the way they do

Thats right. And for why that is so, watch from third segment onwards The end of every foreign war America has waged has resulted in an increase in recruitment for white supremacist and anti govt groups. Timothy mcveigh said his bombing of oklahoma was 'morally equivalent' to the US attack on Iraq.

Just heard the most horrific stories on @ZaraHatKay_Dawn from advocate Asiya Minur who has been fighting for rape victims in court for last 14 years. I feel cick just hearing the stories...of police saying 'Aap maaf kar dain, Allah hisaab lai ga' to judges leering at victims and actually telling them in chambers that it is better to compromise. Of a little girl repeatedly raped by her close relative to the point that she lost her eye and bnroke her arm...and family made her forgive him so that relations would not be disturbed. And so much more.

Its funny how it works: repress and create dissent. Go after dissenters hard and you end up creating more dissenters and radicalising others, and then in reaction you crack down more and more in ridiculous ways. Best part is the cycle can continue indefinitely. Until, eventually, there is no longer a contract between state and citizen. And that, boys and girls, is when things get really bad.

The implementation of Article 140-A is crucial to the future of Pakistan. It states: "140A. Local Government. - (1) Each Province shall, by law, establish a local government system and devolve political, administrative and financial responsibility and authority to the elected representatives of the local governments." Now there are issues of political will here and so, though am not a fan of judicial activism, here unfortunately the SC may well have to step in on the pending petition of Waseem Akhtar. And if, for example, Punjab implements it

Comparing the two JIT reports on Uzair Baloch is quite interesting. There is the one, with 6 signatures, uploaded on govt site. Then there is the one with 4 signatures (clearly an earlier version) missing the signs of SSP special branch and SSP ops CTD. The most glaring diff In both is that the 4 sign one has a section on political affiliations in which Zulfiqar Mirza and Tappi are named, as well as a mention of Asif Ali Zardari. Another section that does NOT appear in the final JIT report is the one that details the nexus with police. In the final

I'm going to tweet excerpts from a NYT story that has made my blood boil. It's about how AMericanm farmers are destroying crops because it is now unprofitable to export them. In Wisconsin and Ohio, farmers are dumping thousands of gallons of fresh milk into lagoons and manure pits. An Idaho farmer has dug huge ditches to bury 1 million pounds of onions. And in South Florida, a region that supplies much of the Eastern half of the United States with produce, tractors are plowing perfectly ripe vegetables back into the soil.

Govts have run soup kitchens in the past (in the us) - or rather have provided support to soup kitchens as in the depression. Not sure how one can support the bisp (and i do) and in the same breath mock govt supported langars (its partnership with saylani). Of course the prime job of govt here should be to provide jobs but the kind of attacks being made and mockery of the langar program is uncalled for.

Replying to individual subtweets is problematic and time-consuming so lets address some of the issues and concerns that are being raised re: TF. Since there is a predictable refrain of free speech lets first examine the kind of speech being defended: Here follows a brief look at the sort of incendiary and proven false material TF routinely disseminates on every medium available to him. It is a 'brief' look because otherwise this would be a 100 tweet thread and I don't want to inflict that on you. thequint.com/news/webqoof/t…
