🧵 It took about a day, but here we are. The anti-choice movement is bending over backwards to justify its continued support of Trump and his administration after a whistleblower revealed the reproductive coercion and oppression at an ICE detention center. bit.ly/3hDj1UB
Instead of calling out Trump and ICE for these horrific human rights abuses and the reproductive coercion they have subjected immigrant women to, they’re spreading disinformation about abortion and Planned Parenthood—and attacking Democratic lawmakers. Sounds about right.
They used the same deflection tactics back in 2018, when “the most pro-life administration ever” separated thousands of children from their families. What was the response from SBA List, an anti-choice advocacy group? “We refrain from public comment on immigration.”
Worse than that, anti-choice extremists and news sites actually tried to make family separations seem like they weren’t so bad. Newsflash: Separating children from their parents is despicable, immoral, and unconscionable. No matter who or where you are, families belong together.
These extremists won't condemn Trump's heinous actions towards immigrants and their families because they don't actually care about families. They care about advancing their own agenda—which has always been rooted in maintaining white patriarchal control. bit.ly/3kfzIao
Bottom line: There is nothing “pro-life” about ignoring the suffering of immigrant women and families because it’s politically expedient. Voting for Trump means voting for these horrendous practices to continue. It's past time for these injustices to end. bit.ly/33xFg9v

Looks like the authors of Project 2025 haven’t read their own paper, but we have. Let’s help them see what they actually wrote — Project 2025 decimates reproductive freedom from every possible angle, and here are the receipts. 🧵
FACT: calls the Dobbs decision that ended our constitutional right to abortion and has led to abortion bans in over twenty states “just the beginning” (p.6)
FACT: includes personhood language that advocates for banning abortion nationwide (also p. 6)
🚨 To protect abortion rights nationwide, we need to take back the U.S. House of Representatives & fill Congress with candidates committed to reproductive freedom.
Proud to launch our 2024 political program by endorsing the following incumbents for reelection to the House. 🧵:
We’re proud to endorse @MaryPeltola for reelection. Alaskans deserve a champion who'll keep fighting for reproductive freedom and against House Republicans who want to ban abortion nationwide, and Rep. Peltola is that champion.
.@MikeLevin is a champion for reproductive freedom representing California who has consistently fought to protect our fundamental rights. We’re proud to endorse him for reelection to the U.S. House of Representatives.
Over the past week, the extremist anti-abortion group “Susan B. Anthony Pro-Life America” (SBA) has been feigning moderation in interviews with the press.
But don't be fooled by this heinous group's PR campaign. We've been tracking SBA, and here's who they really are 👀:
❌ SBA backs extreme anti-abortion candidates and policies at the state and federal levels.
SBA’s “2024 litmus test” demands that Republican candidates support a federal abortion ban. time.com/6263960/aborti…
❌ SBA backs some of the cruelest legislative attacks on abortion.
They support 6-week bans, which are before many people even know they are pregnant, and other cruel bans like Texas's vigilante-enforced ban and Idaho's ban on traveling for abortion care: theguardian.com/us-news/2023/a…
Meet the zealots suing the FDA to block access to abortion pills.
Their arguments in this baseless case make a joke of real science and evidence, all of which prove #medicationabortion's safety and effectiveness.
It’s time to shed light on who these jokers really are 🧵:
George Delgado:
🃏Spreads lies about abortion that have been repeatedly debunked
🃏Fearmongers about birth control and IVF
🃏History of funding GOP super PAC
🃏Journal articles retracted due to ethical concerns
🃏Claims false affiliation with UC San Diego
Sen. Tyler Johnson:
🃏Calls for a total ban on abortion
🃏Wants to throw abortion providers in jail
🃏Celebrated the overturning of Roe
🃏Wrote, sponsored, and voted for anti-LGBTQ bill
🃏Anti-vaxxer and longstanding GOP donor
We just released post-election data confirming that abortion drove voter choice and motivation, leading to big midterm wins for Democrats.
Read on for more ➡️➡️➡️(1/5)
The bottom line is this: Voters, particularly Dems and Independents, describe abortion as one of the top issues that motivated them to vote—and people who voted for Dems cite candidates’ positions on abortion as THE main reason they did so. (2/5)
Across battleground states: 45% of voters say that abortion played a larger role in their voting decisions than in past elections, including:
✅64% of voters who voted for a Democrat for Senate and/or governor this year
✅52% of Black voters, and
✅51% of voters 18-34. (3/5)
🚨 At around midnight last night, the Supreme Court denied the emergency request to block #SB8, Texas’ draconian, dystopian ban on abortion. So what does that mean? We’ve got a short 🧵 for you to explain. #SCOTUS 1/8
The bottom line is that #SB8 is law—for now. Devastatingly, this means most abortion is banned in the state—for now. Abortion is banned at about 6 weeks into pregnancy, well before many people even know they’re pregnant, since it’s only 2 weeks after a missed period. 2/8
And as usual, #SB8 will most directly harm people who are already the most vulnerable. That includes LGBTQ+ people, people in rural areas, BIPOC people, and those with low incomes. This is by design, because the cruelty of this law is so clearly the point. 3/8
