I'm in SE Portland, doing errands, where I just ran across this. The short story is that a drunk man attempted to buy beer from a Plaid Pantry. He was turned down and peeled hard out of the parking lot, where he struck the guide wire on that pole.
You can see the parking lot better in this shot.

After crashing, the driver crawled out and, according to a witness, accused passersby of being "Antifa" and having caused the crash.
At present, the Plaid Pantry is temporarily closed while the firefighters attempt to figure out how to get he truck down.
Also: the driver is presently in Police custody.

Alan's body language here is a perfect example of the "cargo cult of masculinity". He is large, bearded, wearing armor and a gun and a knife. He believes those things confer authority and power to him.

When I ignored his commands, he had no idea what to do.
This fellow is another perfect example. He kept shouting "MOVE!" in imitation of the police. He expected that owning cool body armor and an AR-looking airsoft gun would confer power to him. When I ignored his commands, he aimed his weapon at me. When that didn't work, he fled.
Weapons are dangerous even in the hands of a coward. But all weapons allow a coward to do is damage. In the past this was enough; most Portlanders at protests were inexperienced with violence. Weapons scared them.

After 86 days of fighting the police, people are not scared.

I am here at the unholy hour of 11:51, nine minutes early for the right wing Back The Blue Save The Children Trump 2020 whatever rally.

So far it is just yelling.
Two folks open carrying AR-15s. About 50 people in attendance total, by my count. Just a tremendous number of flags.
Notice the fellow on the right, carrying a baseball bat and OC spray instead of a rifle.

I am at Kenton Park, in North Portland, where a hundred-ish people have gathered to engage in some sort of resistance to the local police. No idea what tonight will bring, but police were super violent this weekend and last night protesters at the 7/11 attacked a drunk driver.
This is definitely the size of crowd you would expect after a super nasty weekend. People get drained and beat up. This few people tend to either be ignored by the police, or subjected to horrific violence. It is impossible to say which.
The crowd is getting ready to roll out. Night 82 kicking off y'all.

I am back on the ground at the Multnomah County Sheriff's Office yet again. The crowd is around 150 people. The Police LRAD has already started sending out warnings, threatening the crowd with arrest or tear gas if they enter the property.
Over on 47th and Burnside a "corker" (a person blocking intersections to help secure a route march) was maced by an angry driver. This is an interview with her.
Elsewhere, an individual was badly injured falling off a vehicle. Riot medics got them into a neck brace. Police medics eventually showed up and waved an ambulance in.

I am back in North Portland tonight, where a couple hundred protesters have gathered at Laurelhurst Park with a fuckload of shields and other equipment.
Seriously, just an assload of shields. Really well made ones too. You can tell the folks making new ones have gotten good at using them.
The shieldwall departs to the tune of Bella Ciao.
