The Hotel where the Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike is lodging while on official assignment in Benin, Edo State has been held siege by over 300 Police men.
Recall that Governor Wike was appointed Chairman of the PDP National Campaign Council for the Edo Governorship election; this is same position Governor Ganduje of Kano State occupies for his party the APC.
Governor Ganduje and Governor Hope Uzodinma of Imo State are all in Benin, Edo State carrying out their assignment for the APC without any molestation or intimidation.
And in a breach of the pledge they made security agencies have decided to harass and intimidate Governor Wike who has not done any wrong.
Rivers People Warn that we Shall hold the IGP responsible for anything that happens to our Governor.
Signed:
Ambassador Akawor Desmond, Chairman
PDP Rivers State

STATE BROADCAST BY
HIS EXCELLENCY NYESOM EZENWO WIKE, CON, GSSRS, POS
ON THE RECENT SECURITY BREACHES IN RIVERS STATE.
My dear people of Rivers State
On 28th April 2021, the Rivers State Security Council, in consideration of the recent murderous attacks on security personnel in Ikwerre and Abua/Odual Local Government Areas imposed a night-time curfew on our land borders with other States.
2. A review of the present security situation shows that the threat
of further deadly attacks on hard and soft targets across the State still exists.
On NDDC: The commission has abandoned its core mandate and leaving those who canvassed for its establishment disillusioned.
2) I don't like talking about NDDC. It is unfortunate that those who fought for it, if they knew that this is how NDDC will be, I don't think that they would have even asked for it.
3) Over the years various National Assembly committees on NDDC have not provided sufficient direction that will make the commission focus on its core mandate of developing the region.
Nigerians are disappointed with the National Assembly for confirming sacked Service Chiefs as ambassadors.
I wonder why Senators who agreed with Nigerians when they decried the poor performance of the Service Chiefs will sit to cleared them for another appointment.
2) Let me use this opportunity to express the dismay of most Nigerians to the Senate. Convey this to the Senate. We must be courageous in whatever we are doing. Everything must not be party affairs.
3) You (Senators) sat and discussed that they should dismiss the service chiefs. You said they're not performing.
Now the same people who were not performing, you have confirmed them as ambassadors. What kind of country are we?
Rivers State Government will from Monday, March 1, 2021 kick start another round of commissioning of projects.
The Okoro-Nu-Odo Flyover will be commissioned on March 1, 2021 by the former Governor of Cross River State, His Excellency, Donald Duke.
2) Rumuogba 1 and 2 Flyover will be commissioned on Tuesday, March 2 by the former Governor of Kano State, His Excellency, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso.
3) Wednesday, March 3 will be the turn of GRA Phase 2 Roads( Tombia Crescent, Opobo Crescent and Isaiah Odolu Street) that will be commissioned by the former Governor of Katsina State, His Excellency, Ibrahim Shehu Shema.
9. Furthermore, the Rivers State Government is seriously disturbed by the recent upsurge of cult activities and related violence and killings around the adjoining areas of the Okoro-nodu flyover in Obio/Akpor Local Government Area.
10. We have repeatedly warned misguided youths that engaging in cultism is abhorrent anti-social behaviour in our society.
11. We shall therefore spare no efforts to deal appropriately with anyone who decides to disturb peace and security in our neighbourhoods with cult activities and associated violence and killings.
2. As you know our promise to construct and five flyovers to ease the perennial traffic challenges and accelerate socio-economic development of the State is well on course.
3. We delivered and commissioned the first of the initial five flyovers, (the Rebisi flyover) to the glory of God and the good of our State, while construction work on the rest has reached advanced levels of completion.
4. Indeed, the Okoro-nu-do flyover is next on the line to be delivered and commissioned, latest, in the first quarter of 2021.
