ON THE RECENT SECURITY BREACHES IN RIVERS STATE. My dear people of Rivers State
On 28th April 2021, the Rivers State Security Council, in consideration of the recent murderous attacks on security personnel in Ikwerre and Abua/Odual Local Government Areas imposed a night-time curfew on our land borders with other States.

On NDDC: The commission has abandoned its core mandate and leaving those who canvassed for its establishment disillusioned. 2) I don't like talking about NDDC. It is unfortunate that those who fought for it, if they knew that this is how NDDC will be, I don't think that they would have even asked for it.

Nigerians are disappointed with the National Assembly for confirming sacked Service Chiefs as ambassadors.

I wonder why Senators who agreed with Nigerians when they decried the poor performance of the Service Chiefs will sit to cleared them for another appointment. 2) Let me use this opportunity to express the dismay of most Nigerians to the Senate. Convey this to the Senate. We must be courageous in whatever we are doing. Everything must not be party affairs.

Rivers State Government will from Monday, March 1, 2021 kick start another round of commissioning of projects.

The Okoro-Nu-Odo Flyover will be commissioned on March 1, 2021 by the former Governor of Cross River State, His Excellency, Donald Duke. 2) Rumuogba 1 and 2 Flyover will be commissioned on Tuesday, March 2 by the former Governor of Kano State, His Excellency, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso.

9. Furthermore, the Rivers State Government is seriously disturbed by the recent upsurge of cult activities and related violence and killings around the adjoining areas of the Okoro-nodu flyover in Obio/Akpor Local Government Area.

2. As you know our promise to construct and five flyovers to ease the perennial traffic challenges and accelerate socio-economic development of the State is well on course.

#Broadcast 3. We delivered and commissioned the first of the initial five flyovers, (the Rebisi flyover) to the glory of God and the good of our State, while construction work on the rest has reached advanced levels of completion.

Rivers state was very peaceful before IPOB suddenly killed six Soldiers and four Policemen. Destroyed all the Police stations and burnt all the courts in Oyigbo.

We all know when you kill a security operative particularly the army they #AITInterview 2/7

They didn't stop there but started renaming communities in Rivers State and put up flags in some places.

IPOB went on to attack the Hausas and I called for the curfew when it was degenerating into a tribal conflict with the Hausas.

While the Government acknowledge and appreciate the enormous contributions from non-indigenes to the political, social and economic development of the State,

Rivers State government has decided to pay N20 Million compensation to the families of each of the soldiers and policemen killed by members of proscribed Indigenous Peoples Organization of Biafra (IPOB) in Oyigbo last week.

#EndSARS In addition, Rivers State Government has promised to rebuild all burnt police stations in Oyigbo and vowed to ensure that the terrorist organisation no longer exist in Rivers State.

I call for a total reform of the entire security agencies beginning with the Nigeria Police Force.

From the beginning, we in Rivers state suffered in the hands of SARS operatives as they killed innocent people and made the State ungovernable. They even killed a polytechnic lecturer. We cried but they reduced it to politics. The Media tagged us Rivers of Blood when we had security issues.

The Federal Government is trivialising the demands by #EndSARS protesters by directing  State Governors to take charge of Tactical Commands of the Police.

State Governors cannot take charge of Tactical Commands because they cannot employ or discipline anyone who errs. In Rivers State, we set up a Judicial Commission of Inquiry that indicted SARS officers. Instead of the Police authorities punishing the indicted officers, they shielded them and even promoted one to the rank of an Assistant Inspector General.

I have noted with pleasure the turnout of people to vote for candidates of their choice in the Edo Governorship Election.

There was minimal violence recorded because of the proactive measures deployed by the security agencies.

#EdoDecides Like I have said before, election is not only about voting, the votes should be counted, then you proceed to collation stages; ward,  local and state government levels. The collation stage is the critical period.

The Hotel where the Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike is lodging while on official assignment in Benin, Edo State has been held siege by over 300 Police men. Recall that Governor Wike was appointed Chairman of the PDP National Campaign Council for the Edo Governorship election; this is same position Governor Ganduje of Kano State occupies for his party the APC.

Rivers State Government re-opens all  markets in the State with effect  from Tuesday, August 18, 2020 from 7a.m and close at 6p.m daily.

Rumukwurushe (Oil Mill) and Oginiba Slaughter Markets still remain closed.

I wish to, on behalf of the Government and people of Rivers State, appreciate and most sincerely, thank you for graciously approving the refund of the sum of N78.9 billion to the Rivers State Government, as cost of execution of Federal Government's road projects in
the State. 2. Let me also, through you, thank the Vice President, His Excellency, Professor Yemi Osinbajo, GCON, as well as other members of the Federal Executive Council, for the support they provided to our request.

I told them that in Edo State, we must handle the issue carefully and carry everybody along. They must respect human beings and not behave like tax collectors.

They said because an order was obtained from a  Federal High Court in Port Harcourt, then I am responsible. I have had sleepless nights to resolve the issue in Edo state. The Governors of Edo, Adamawa, and Delta states, know what I have done to resolve the issues in Edo state.

As a result of this senseless accusation, I have pulled out of Edo State settlement. My integrity matters.

Pursuant to the fundamental objective of stopping the spread of coronavirus, we have reviewed the situation in Bonny  Island and Onne Communities and come to the conclusion that a total lockdown is necessary at this time to shut down the continuing spread of the virus By this measure, all shops, offices and business places must remain closed.

All gatherings, including religious, burial and wedding activities are prohibited. All entry and exit into the two communities, except those on essential services and duly permitted, are also banned.

41. In the last one year of our second tenure, we have kept our promise, worked hard and achieved more with less resources, provided first-class socio-economic infrastructure and kept our State and businesses safe, secure.

As I have stated earlier, there is nothing to worry about the increasing number of positive cases as such is not unexpected in the light of the intensification of contact- tracing and increased testing of suspected cases.

#Lockdown #Broadcast As 60% of the positive cases recorded in the State are connected with oil company workers, we have initiated a meeting with all the major oil companies to work out strategies on how we can stop this trend and stop the risk this category of workers now pose to the State

In continuation of our struggle against the spread of covid-19 in our State, we had planned to resume the total lockdown on Obio/Akpor and Port Harcourt Local Government Areas from Wednesday 27th May 2020.

#Lockdown #Broadcast However, after a comprehensive review of the measures we have taken and further considerations placed before us by well-meaning members of the public, the State Security Council has decided to cancel the proposed lockdown on Obio/Akpor and Port Harcourt Local Government Areas .

It is important that as we fight COVID-19, we should not abandon very important infrastructure. People will still be alive after COVID-19, so we need to develop basic infrastructure. Our fight against coronavirus is very serious, but we have to continue to deliver projects to our people.
