2nd thought: McConnell will ghoulishly try to replace Ginsburg before January 20, 2021 if Trump loses.
3rd thought: the hearings would come mid-transition—during possible unrest.
4th thought: any election case goes to a *5-3* court.
5th thought: the GOP already stole the Court. And they were rewarded for it—richly. Now the cosmos is rewarding them *again*, confirming the view that McConnell and this iteration of the GOP should never be trusted or worked with ever again unless they agree to wait on a nominee.
6th thought: but of course McConnell *won't* wait. And even if he or Trump *say* they'll wait—in order to ensure Democratic voters aren't energized—that would be a lie and no one would trust it. The Senate GOP is already making a "mid-transition hearings" plan, whatever they say.
7th thought: 2020 easily ranks with the worst years in American history, beyond any doubt. America will need to make sure it *properly* celebrates Ginsburg and her legacy in 2021, because what's about to happen now will be—functionally—a *desecration* of that legacy. Count on it.
8th thought: yes, Roberts and Gorsuch *might* be willing to save the country from falling into tyranny, but counting on *both* men to do the right thing...I don't know. It's hard to imagine. In a 4-4 tie, the decision of the lower court (likely a state supreme court) would stand.
9th thought: those f****** ghouls. All I can think about is their despicable, gibbering, troglodytic *glee* at the passing of one of the greatest Americans to ever walk the Earth—and the fact that they're *already* plotting how to destroy her legacy and steal another SCOTUS seat.
10th thought: McConnell *effortlessly* moved the Overton Window. Ginsburg being replaced pre-inauguration should be a *non-starter*—but somehow it isn't. And for those saying she'll be replaced pre-election—no. Mitch McConnell doesn't want to whip up the Democratic base that way.

(📢) PROOF EXCLUSIVE: The Real Reason Iran Wants to Kill Trump Is Not What He Says or What You May Think
🔗:
If America is about to end up in another war of Trump’s making, it’s reasonable for us to ask why. The short version—*he* created this nightmare. sethabramson.substack.com/p/the-real-rea…
1/ We have come to a time in American history when even recent American history is treated as ancient history.
The events discussed in this report were confirmed true in 2020, and this report is fully sourced.
They are not even seriously contested anymore by anyone who matters.
2/ A threat now being mislabeled as being against Trump exclusively (it is not) and as part of an Iranian desire to sow chaos/destabilize America (it is not) and as related to the election (it is not) was *widely discussed on U.S. major media in January 2020*. We know what it is.
I’ve now watched 6 January 6 films in the last 3 days. A couple made me cry. I’ve seen things I never thought I’d see and learned things I didn’t know. As a historian, one thing eats at me: my successors 100 years on will be stunned that the man who caused all this wasn’t jailed.
PHOTO CREDIT: Mel D. Cole, who I’ve now learned took the most incredible photographs from January 6 of anyone there that day. You can find him at @meldcole.
@meldcole (PS) I hope—if you watch any January 6 films in preparation for Election Day—you think to yourself as you see the blood, gore, tears, bear gas, people having heart attacks... *Donald Trump caused this.*
1/ This series—now four parts long, with a fifth coming very soon; the whole thing is multiple books of material, with hundreds and hundreds of citations—has become its own organism. It has become the most important thing PROOF has published. And it has a very long way to go yet.
2/ But nevertheless, I can summarize it: it is an attempt to circumscribe *exactly* the threat America faces and *exactly* how we can expect America to end, if it indeed ends (in a meaningful sense) sometime in 2025.
And it gives a sober assessment of the odds of that happening.
(📣) POLL: Imagine Trump has lost in November and—as he's said he might—he flees America forever to avoid his November 26 criminal sentencing, his pending state and federal (January 6) criminal cases, and the likely return of his stolen docs case in Florida.
Where does he flee?
(PS) For those wondering, yes, Brazil (🇧🇷) would have made the list if close Trump family friend Jair Bolsonaro and his son Eduardo Bolsonaro had successfully staged the violent coup they plotted in 2022. Unfortunately for Trump, the coup—explicitly modeled on January 6th—failed.
(PS2) Not trying to get anyone to pick anything here, but I do wonder if folks underestimate the permanent propaganda victory Trump living like a demigod in North Korea for the last years of his life would be for Kim Jong-un.
He would live in *unimaginable* luxury in Pyongyang.
Straight talk: the pager attack in Lebanon that Trump friend Netanyahu orchestrated to scuttle peace talks and—it seems, secondarily—prolong a war that hurts Democrats in the United States not only injured thousands of innocents but sure feels like an Israeli *terrorist* attack.
And sadly it's working: peace is farther than ever, and American voters are blaming Democrats for a situation that has pretty clearly been gamed out by a regularly coordinating Trump-Netanyahu axis completely indifferent to human life.
Wake up, America! This is a MAGA-IDF joint.
Simply put, when you at a random time blow up scores of pagers across a country you're *100% aware* you are killing and injuring *thousands and thousands* of civilians. It's very similar to a homicide bomber going into a high-civilian-traffic "legitimate" target. It is terrorism.
