@sarahkendzior too many dead laptops and mobile phones have passed and lost contact details for you.
US Government at the Assange hearing is depending heavily on the Rosen case and declaring its right to prosecute journalists under the Espionage Act.
It has even argued explicitly and multiple times that the NYT Pentagon Papers Supreme Court judgement says in the dicta (Judge's comments) that the NYT could be published under the Espionage Act. This administration is going way past anything done before even by Nixon.
But because it's Assange, the liberal media is paying no attention at all to the detail of a huge threat, and instead relying on Justice Dept press releases saying "no threat to real journalists" which is the opposite of what they are actually arguing in court.
Prosecution run on unitary executive theory by Barr. I know it is a lot of thorny detail, but please look at reports on my blog and see if you can wake anyone up. Best wishes.
Sorry key typo in second tweet. US Govt is arguing that the Pentagon Papers NYT judgement said that the NYT could be PROSECUTED under the Espionage Act
sorry important typo. They said the NYT could have been PROSECUTED successfully under the Espionage Act.

1. Labour continues to bet that moving to the far right will boost its popularity.
Mahmood's proposal to return asylum seekers once their country is "safe" is nonsense because (thread follows)
2. Every asylum application is individually assessed. Unlike the crazy Ukrainian scheme, asylum does not declare a country "unsafe" and then let everybody in from that country.
Rather the asylum applicant has to provide evidence that they, individually, are under threat. Thus if they are escaping a dictatorship they have to show that they individually did things which attracted real unfair regime action against them. With strictly tested evidence.

One important principle I wish an Independent Scotland to adopt - one which is explicitly rejected by the United Kingdom - is that international law is automatically enforceable in domestic cases.
And treaty obligations are binding on governments and enforced by domestic courts.
To give but one example, the UK/US extradition treaty specifically bars political extradition.
In the Assange case, the UK courts have accepted the argument that while this is in the treaty, it is not in UK domestic legislation and the treaty has no legal effect in the UK.
That is just one example. It is a long established UK law principle with a lot of case law behind it that the UK government has no obligation to abide by international treaties it has signed and ratified.
The Supremacy of the Westminster Parliament overrides international law.

This is a Times "exclusive" on National Crime Agency that I have known for the last month. My tweet 5 April below. Scotland's so-called mainstream media are all running with it this morning, having been given a lying spin on it by Police Scotland.
Please do read this thread.

In fact, the National Crime Agency were NOT called in by Police Scotland. The NCA were involved by a suspicious activity report generated by a bank.
Such reports automatically go the the NCA.

Police Scotland were therefore forced to move, after eighteen months of sitting on it due to corruption at senior levels and in the Crown Office.
Having been stymied by top brass had been enormously frustrating to the actual working detectives on this based at Gartcosh.

This organisation is far from what it says on the box. They are, without exception, dedicated identity politics warriors who take the most extreme position on self-ID.
Even though subject is "a republic", nobody who does not sign up to their gender ideology is allowed to speak.
The lead speaker is the owner of the Stand club which just banned Joanna Cherry from speaking there because of her gender critical views.
Lorna Slater attacked Cherry last night on TV. Maggie Chapman has the most extreme views I have ever heard on infant transition.
As an ardent and well known republican who turned down three honours from the monarchy, and a more experienced public speaker than any of them, I offered to speak at this rally in my home town.
I was denied as not part of this extremist cult.

@jopparocks @WingsScotland @jerseyp295 @michaelbruce543 @MacfadyenAngus @AlexSalmond The plot was this.
There was the original "sleepy cuddles" incident. It really happened. It was inappropriate with an employee, had been apologised for and forgotten years back.
Sturgeon's office learned about it in the #Metoo review.
@jopparocks @WingsScotland @jerseyp295 @michaelbruce543 @MacfadyenAngus @AlexSalmond They persuaded that Alphabettie to reactivate that incident. They then set about fabricating numerous incidents that "mirrored" it to try to obtain a conviction under Scottish "Moorov" doctrine, that repeated similar incidents equal corroboration.
@jopparocks @WingsScotland @jerseyp295 @michaelbruce543 @MacfadyenAngus @AlexSalmond The new incidents ranged from the ludicrous - pinging someone's hair in a lift full of other people, "putting hands on shoulders over her clothes" when asking someone for a dance at a party - to the entire fabrication of Woman H's "attempted rape".

Like the rest of the post-Soviet space, Ukraine has retained the important official distinction between gradjvanstvo - citizenship - and narodnosc - ethnicity/nationality.
Exactly as my citizenship is UK, and my nationality is Scottish.
Ukraine asks both in the census.
The last census was in 2001, under pro-Russian President Leonid Kuchma. These census narodnosc results may surprise you.
Donetsk Region: 56.9% Ukrainian, 38.2% Russian (4.9% other).
Lukhansk Region: 58.0% Ukrainian, 38.0% Russian
Kherson Region: 82.0% Ukrainian, 14.1% Russian
Zaporizhzhia Region: 70.8% Ukrainian, 24.7% Russian

and for completeness:
Crimea 24.3% Ukrainian, 58.3% Russian.
Russians have never been a majority in the Donbass but are concentrated in the cities so more visible
