Touchdown.

Waiting to march.
Gary has the megaphone and seems to have taken control of the march.

We've marched to the Gus J Solomon US Courthouse.

Press seems to be protecting the doors.
The sounds of breaking glass are unmistakable as we match away from the courthouse.

The crowd marches toward the JC chanting Black Lives Matter.
A familiar sight as the crowd pauses between the Justice Center and the Federal Courthouse.
There's a white person out here dancing for and holding signs, begging for attention in American flag clothes.

Not posting their pictures.
"Stolen People, Stolen Land" chants break out, punctuated by ACAB chants.

A snack wagon has arrived.

Richard, opens an umbrella for no clear reason.

A large American flag is burning. I think it came off the Courthouse.

I predict the 🍊🤡 is gonna have a fit; Ted Wheeler will condemn the gesture.
This young Kuwaiti fella has been out here for months. Says he started protesting after his brother was killed in NY 3 months ago.

Says he got arrested and held in the JC. Says he's being deported because of it.
Not sure about this outfit during a protest, but young bruv is speaking intelligently about how Black history has been taught in such a way to uphold a white supremacist narrative. Discusses the hypocrisy of understanding a problem & not taking action.

No cops yet tonight.
Rumor has it the cops are gearing up to break up the... dance party?

There's literally nothing for the cops to do but be dicks if they show up.
Feds watching from the Federal building. The glowing helmets can be seen from the street.

A crowd gathered, but then some convos took place and the protest marched to City Hall.

The dreaded brother in the pointy shoes who was speaking earlier also leads the drumline.
The protest walked right past City Hall. No clue where we are going.
@SnackVanTM sighting!

Feeding the streets!
"I gotta get a picture of this."
"Why?"
"Cuz people need to know this land wasn't always ours."

Two Asian teenagers having a convo as I walk by snapping flicks.
Holding space all over downtown. Lotta marching. Being like water.
The crowd took another intersection. Someone in a high rise threw an egg at the crowd and now the crowd has lost focus.

Gary back on the megaphone.
Walked up to PSU and we're back at the JC.

Another dance party breaks out.
A dance battle breaks out.

This is what happens when the cops don't intervene. 🤣

Sitting here hungry, thinking about the first week of the 2020 protests when I tried to catch a gas canister off the first bounce and it ended up being a flashbang.

I ran around deaf and half blind for a while minute. Shout out to the homies.
We were real traumatized out there. Some of us have yet to recover.
It's hard to explain how watching our nightmares unfold from the hands of our city, state and federal government radicalized us and left us distrustful of everyone.

I truly thought I was going to be murdered by a LEO before I turned 40. And I was OK with that.

Strange times.

Betsy Johnson has the support of the cops, big timber, the PDX business community and Nike. And when I say "support", I mean she has around $5M in campaign funds and no one else in the governor's race is anywhere near close.

Where is the resistance?
Betsy is a Joe Manchin style Democrat-turned-Independent.

Low scores on labor, environment, gun control, etc. Not a Republican in name, but for reasons unbeknownst. Johnson has a record of taking centrist and independent posi
Ever heard of People for Portland? The right-wing dark-money group who wants to ban homelessness by herding undesirables into forced shelters?

The founders are Betsy Johnson's advisors.

The right is running the table on us.

This response is hilarious.

I made zero judgement on people who watch wrestling. Y'all on here making my point while asking what it is 🤣
America: Where everybody is ready to fake fight over things that don't actually matter instead of focusing on making the very obvious changes that are within reach.
America: Where everyone knows the fight is a ruse but we play along anyway because the alternative is actually fighting.

Abolishing police without constructing and using publicly accepted restorative justice practices IN REALITY simply leads to increased public support of policing and vigilantism.

We have to create the alternative we want to see. We have to communicate it. We have to model it.
People keep asking where leftists collectively lost the carrot and its right there.

Why do mostly white anon leftists attack leftists of color? Because leftists of color typically work in actual physical communities where RJ is used in praxis.

So they call us all apologists.
For a lot of the Twitter-left, this is a show. Stirring up mess is the fuel for their ONLINE engagement, so they prioritize gossip as real work. Then they log off.

But if we look at this behavior through an restorative justice lens, what space is created for change? Zero.

I think it's weird when people get mad at normal questions in anticipation that the honest answer might damage their worldview.
People get so focused on searching for The Truth that they build and create schools of thought that narrow their perceptions.

This is normally what religion does, but nowadays people just create dogma as we go along.

Thus we always need to clarify terms. Start on the same page.
Maybe it's just how my brain works, but how can we discuss something if we don't have a shared comprehension?

It's a red flag for me when people don't want to (or can't) explain what the words they use mean.

I don't know but when I was in 1st grade, we went on a field trip and some boy pushed me - the only Black boy in the class - into a duck pond.

After being fished out (I couldn't swim) I was forced to forgive the other boy and left to dry off while the other kids played games. 🤷🏾‍♂️
Far worse things have happened since, but I hadn't thought about that in a while and it popped out as the moment I stopped fucking with people.
It was also an early example to me that white people def understand restorative justice when it comes to themselves.

The boy who pushed me never faced any consequence. Later that year, I quit school to homeschool. I don't recall how much this had to do with it. Might ask my mom.
