I congratulate my friend and brother @GovernorObaseki on his re-election as Governor of Edo State.

Saraki Congratulates Edo People, Says Obaseki’s Victory Has Several Implications abubakarbukolasaraki.com/home/about/opi…
The result of the Edo guber election represents the true wish of the people who stood firmly behind their Governor against power mongers who were determined to foist their choice on the people. It represents the will of the people to vote in free, fair and credible elections.
The people who had sleepless nights in order to protect their votes, who rejected the cash being thrown around to buy their votes and the intimidation to force them to compromise their belief deserve our praise. Therefore, my congratulations go to all the people of Edo State.
Let me give kudos to the leaders and governors in our party - @OfficialPDPNig - for working together to achieve this victory.
The @OfficialPDPNig leaders and members in Edo State who whole-heartedly accepted @GovernorObaseki since he joined the party and co-operated with him to bring about this victory deserve to be appreciated.
The result of the just concluded election also represents the fact that our people actually desire to be governed by a truly democratic government headed by those they genuinely voted for.
It represents the fact that our security and electoral officials can conduct free and fair elections if they have the right atmosphere.
We are happy that throughout this election we did not see the military brutalizing the people or security officials supervising the snatching of ballot boxes and vandalization of votes. Thus, the military and other security agencies deserve commendation for this successful poll.
We also saw how @inecnigeria maturely handled the complaints of the APC agent who sought to create confusion at the state collation centre when the Orihomwon LGA result was about to be declared. INEC and its officials deserve to be commended for their neutrality in this election.
We can see that the result represents realistic figures from one local government area to the other. No case of outlandish figures being reeled out. That is also a sign of some level of credibility in the process.
It is for the above reasons that I have to commend President @MBuhari for keeping the military out of this election and for giving the instructions that led to the apparent neutrality of @inecnigeria officials and other security officials involved in the entire process.
The Edo election result is a victory for our country, her people and democracy. We have shown that the glory of the country is more valuable to the citizens than the wish of a tiny power clique.
Finally, I call on @GovernorObaseki to see his his re-election as an opportunity to deliver on his campaign promises and to continually work to actualize the wishes and aspirations of the Edo people.

The recent killings with religious undertones in Plateau State are unacceptable provocations that must be condemned by all Nigerians.
As the affected communities grapple with their significant losses and work towards healing, both the Plateau State and the Federal government must expedite all necessary actions to apprehend the perpetrators and bring them to justice.
The people who are responsible for instigating and executing these violent acts that will only propagate a vicious cycle of reprisals must be tried for their crimes. Justice must not only be done, it must be seen to be done to end the ongoing cycle of killings.

I have watched with concern the recent development in Oyo and Ondo States in which quit notices were given to Fulani herders, with the subsequent burning of the property of Fulani herdsmen in some parts of Oyo State.
These happenings have increased the tension and unduly raised the temperature in the country.
The ugly development in these two states are symptomatic of the continued threat to the unity of our country that we have witnessed on a higher scale in recent times and in different parts of the country — including the South-East and South-South zones.

After posting a tweet on the kidnap of the 12 policemen yesterday, the thought of the damning implication that sad incident has for our country continues to disturb me.
Moreover, last night some of my colleagues in the 8th Senate came to visit and, along the line, the same issue came up for discussion.
Two of them from the North West narrated how the kidnapping problem has become a big racket with many criminal rings now organized around it. I was stunned by some of their experiences and the stories they have heard from their constituents.

I appeal to the government to put an end to this shooting of protesters by security agents. We need to exercise great patience, restraint and compassion in handling the demands of these youth.
We must do all that is necessary to protect and engage with them on all issues. Please let the shooting stop and let fruitful dialogue commence.
Killing our young and defenceless children under any circumstances is wrong. Period. Killing our children is also killing our future as a nation. We must walk back from this. Mr. President this is what needs to be done. I appeal to you to do the right thing.

The isolated polls as we have in Ondo State next Saturday, and the last one in Edo State, give us the opportunity to perfect the electoral system. We must continue to improve on the system with every one of these out-of-cycle elections so that the next general elections will...
... perhaps be the best the country has witnessed in the last 60 years.
It is a good omen that the election is coming a few days after the 60th Independence Anniversary. @inecnigeria, security officials and individuals involved in the October 10 election in Ondo must present a credible poll to Nigerians as part of the Independence Anniversary gifts.

After my 5th victory in cases in which @officialEFCC was the main investigating agency or plaintiff, I will like to thank the Nigerian Judiciary for upholding the law, and my family, colleagues, friends and associates for standing by me.
abubakarbukolasaraki.com/home/about/opi…
1. Today, as always, I thank Almighty Allah as I welcome the judgment of the Federal High Court, Lagos by the Honorable Justice Rilwan M. Aikawa in which the court dismissed in its totality the application by @officialEFCC for a forfeiture order on my home in Ilorin, Kwara State.
I am particularly happy that the court specifically ruled that there was no evidence that the property was built with any illicit or stolen funds from the Kwara State Government or any other institution or quarter, whatsoever.
