The recent killings with religious undertones in Plateau State are unacceptable provocations that must be condemned by all Nigerians. As the affected communities grapple with their significant losses and work towards healing, both the Plateau State and the Federal government must expedite all necessary actions to apprehend the perpetrators and bring them to justice.

I have watched with concern the recent development in Oyo and Ondo States in which quit notices were given to Fulani herders, with the subsequent burning of the property of Fulani herdsmen in some parts of Oyo State. These happenings have increased the tension and unduly raised the temperature in the country.

After posting a tweet on the kidnap of the 12 policemen yesterday, the thought of the damning implication that sad incident has for our country continues to disturb me. Moreover, last night some of my colleagues in the 8th Senate came to visit and, along the line, the same issue came up for discussion.

I appeal to the government to put an end to this shooting of protesters by security agents. We need to exercise great patience, restraint and compassion in handling the demands of these youth. We must do all that is necessary to protect and engage with them on all issues. Please let the shooting stop and let fruitful dialogue commence.

The isolated polls as we have in Ondo State next Saturday, and the last one in Edo State, give us the opportunity to perfect the electoral system. We must continue to improve on the system with every one of these out-of-cycle elections so that the next general elections will... ... perhaps be the best the country has witnessed in the last 60 years.

After my 5th victory in cases in which @officialEFCC was the main investigating agency or plaintiff, I will like to thank the Nigerian Judiciary for upholding the law, and my family, colleagues, friends and associates for standing by me.
abubakarbukolasaraki.com/home/about/opi… 1. Today, as always, I thank Almighty Allah as I welcome the judgment of the Federal High Court, Lagos by the Honorable Justice Rilwan M. Aikawa in which the court dismissed in its totality the application by @officialEFCC for a forfeiture order on my home in Ilorin, Kwara State.

As a father, I'm appalled by the actions of lecturers captured in the #SexForGrades exposé. We cannot allow this sort of deplorable behaviour to fester. In 2016, my colleagues and I in the 8th Senate passed the "Sexual Harassment in Tertiary Education Institution Prohibition Bill" to prescribe a 5 year jail term for any lecturer, educationist or person in a position of authority in any tertiary institution in Nigeria found...

Football lovers across the nation will be pleased to know that the Nigerian Football Federation (@TheNFF) Bill, which has been in @NASSNigeria for the past 15 years, was finally passed by the @NGRSenate on Wednesday, May 22nd, 2019. Over the last 4-years, @NASSNigeria has worked assiduously to pass previously elusive Bills that have hindered the development of many sectors like the #PIGB, #CAMA, the 1% clause for Healthcare out of the CRF, and now, @theNFF Bill.

Today, the Nigerian Senate has passed the Bill to Establish the Nigeria Police Reform Trust Fund (HB 894). This is a major development.

The significance of the passage of the Police Trust Fund Bill cannot be overstated in view of the important project of reforming the Nigerian Police Force. This is because, adequate financing has been identified by experts as one of the key limitations of the Nigerian Police.

The 8th @NASSNigeria's Bill to repeal and re-enact the Companies and Allied Matters Act (#CAMA) has been transmitted to @NGRPresident @MBuhari for his assent. This Bill is a major milestone that will signify Nigeria’s readiness for a modern business environment. The #CAMA, which was initiated as one of the 8th @NASSNigeria’s economic priority Bills, will not only promote the #EaseOfDoingBusiness in Nigeria, it will also give new life to our #SMEs that provide about 84% of the available jobs across the nation.

Waiting till just a few hours to the commencement of voting before announcing the postponement of elections is extremely sad. Nobody can quantify the difficulty that this will bring to millions of Nigerians across the nation. #ElectionPostponed I empathize with youth corps members who have been relocated from their places of primary assignment to assist with the conduct of the elections. My thoughts also go out to workers and civil servants who left their bases to go and vote in their hometowns. #ElectionPostponed

The suspension of the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Hon. Justice Onnoghen by President Buhari is an action capable of undermining the nation’s judiciary, subverting the Constitution, intimidating judges, and creating uncertainty in the electoral process. By unilaterally suspending the CJN without following the provisions of the Constitution, President Buhari has sent a dangerous signal to the entire world that Nigeria is no longer a democratic nation and that we have returned to the old, jaded era of military dictatorship.

The New Year has met our countrymen and women in an anticipatory mood. Spirits are high, because in this year 2019, Nigeria has a date with destiny. But we also know that despite all of this, the work of leadership must go on; governance must not suffer. #TodayInSenatePlenary This is an epoch making Senate that had, by the end of 2018, passed an unprecedented 257 bills, many of which are groundbreaking enough to change the game to meet the needs of Nigerians, with the potential to radically transform their lives for the better. #TodayInSenatePlenary

I just briefed Pressmen at Legacy House about the sad development in my home state, Kwara State, and the role of the security agencies in giving cover to people who are unleashing violence on our people. The APC in Kwara State are surprised and cannot understand how and why the people continue to give massive and overwhelming support to the PDP across the state.

We should look at the Zamfara killings as a major threat to our democracy — particularly as we move towards the general elections in the next 50 days. We should not allow criminal elements to take over parts of our country. The situation in Zamfara State is an example of why we need to overhaul our security architecture in order to bring it to a state where it can effectively tackle emerging threats and challenges.

I call on @NGRPresident @MBuhari to end the uncertainty by signing, without delay, the 2018 #ElectoralBill. This would allow @INECNigeria and all concerned parties to prepare on time for a credible process in the upcoming General Election.

medium.com/@SPNigeria/sen… My position remains that the @NGRPresident, his aides, the entire country and the international community are aware that all the concerns raised by the @NGRPresident on the past three occasions he withheld assent to the #ElectoralBill have been addressed by the legislature.

We thank the people of Ekiti/Oke Ero/Isin/Irepodun who came out to vote today — defying the heavy intimidation and the siege laid by the security agents and thugs invited into the 4 LGAs by the APC. #KwaraByElection The public should note that today’s #KwaraByElection was simply between PDP and security agents plus APC. This was due to the heavy deployment of police, soldiers and other security agents who gathered to support APC and harass PDP leaders and supoorters.
