Everybody can learn from this thread but today I want to speak directly to my #therapist #counselors, and #psychologists.

If you know them...tag them.
I KNOW they didn’t teach you how to market in school.

I GET that it’s a lot being responsible for running the practice and finding new clients.

But you’re making it harder on yourself than it has to be.
I’m going to teach you how to do ONE THING that helped a therapist in my membership to pull in $15,000 in new business before even formally launching the site for her practice.

This will increase your visibility online and help you to get more clients.

Let’s start at the top.
I know you can help with relationships, anxiety, ptsd, family issues, depression, maladaptive behaviors, trauma, and an overall sense of helplessness etc, etc.

But should all of this be thrown at your future client/patient?

No.
I know you THINK you’re going to attract more clients with an exhaustive list of service areas but what you’ve actually done is repel a person who needed you.

Before clicking “more information” or “contact us” in overwhelm they chose to exit your site.
Thats why the better practice is to list ONE AREA OF HELP on your site.

Now before you cuss me, take a deep breath.

I already told you that I know you can help in all of the areas but this isn’t about you.

This is about your client.

YOUR JOB isn’t just to offer help.
YOUR JOB is to make that help accessible.

Accessibility is about more than taking insurance or offering your sessions cheaper than you should (another thread for another day)

It’s ADVOCATING for your future patients/clients by helping them to make a decision.
You can either make it impossible for them to decide by overwhelming them (about 90% of you are doing this)

OR you can say something like this...

“I work best with people struggling with adapting to the stressors of a new job”
Whoooo! If I can just get 10% of you to do this so many people will get the help they need.

Magic happens when you are specific!

By being specific and defined you’ll give them the ability to choose.
More people will land on your discovery call this way than the former.

So hear me when I say...
It’s great to be a help to everyone.

It’s better to know that you can help everyone but INTEND to help , support, and market to the group with which your help most aligns.

Proud of my last Sales Therapy client who is launching her program NEXT WEEK!

Today she had someone APPLY to her program paying the $100 application fee and is ready to pay IN FULL!
First of all, catch all of the tea!

Mama has NOT launched her program. The pages are not even public.

This person GOOGLED her name and programs because she wanted to work with her so bad.
Hear me when I say so many things happened in this moment including breaking down the disbelief that people will pay to be considered when they know you have their solution.

I don’t think y’all really understand.

At the end of 2019 I scrapped the membership I’d been working on for a year, The Melanin Marketing Membership.

It was my livelihood.

I was 5 months pregnant when I started Biz Church from SCRATCH.
I’m talking $0.

Each month the membership has grown by 7-10 members.

It took me 8 months to get where I wanted to be.
My members are active.

Share a collective mission.

Are growing their business.

And I am accomplishing what I intended.

First of all, I’m mad at y’all.

I know this pandemic has been rough on physical locations but y’all are really making this harder than it has to be.
Why are you assuming your customers don’t want to come back to your shop?

Yes I know we are in a pandemic.

But if you had clients that came to your store on a weekly, bi weekly, or monthly basis.

They need and want your offer.
Your store is embedded into their way of life.

They didn’t want this pandemic to happen so they need you to show up for them.

They need you to tell them what you are doing to keep them safe.

And I’m not talking about a petty social media post.

If you find yourself nervous on new client/discovery calls this is a HUGE indicator that your intake process is flawed.

You’re not nervous because you’re meeting with your dream client.

You’re nervous because you’re meeting with a client and you don’t have enough information.
Your intake process should provide enough information for you to know...
- What package they want
- When they want to start
- If they’re ready to pay

When you know this the call becomes less about you performing, guessing, and going from nervous laugh to the next.
And more about you leading someone in need to their solution.

It doesn’t matter if they are your dream client.

On your turf it’s your rules and your expertise.

Up encouraging my cousin who is a street musician to get serious about YouTube.

He did one video and got 10k views with out trying.

He doesn’t see what could happen if he tried.
I’m breaking down to him that YouTube management is a skill that he needs to teach himself.

He asked...

Where do I start?

The irony.

All he has to do is type “how to start YouTube channel” into the search bar
The internet can be a place of wealth and prosperity to use while being an abyss and time suck for our loved ones.

Everytime you get a chance explain to someone you love how to make money with the internet.

They likely will not get it the 1st or 10th time but the 100th!!!!
