Not a parent, but the obvious answer here is to call her Ace and tell her that you want her to have the experience of making the legal change herself when she's 18.

Also, objectively, Ace is an absolutely boss name for a twelve year old girl. Added to the list of options for my eventual children.

Seriously though, it's very possible that my response is being colored by this child's good taste in names. I'm now gaming this scenario out if the name was Ivanka, and I know myself well enough to know that it plays out very differently.
