It's the nations highest civilian honor.
On top of all the other parts of her legacy in that distinction, I want to add a tiny one more: She's one of the reasons I'm still alive. π§΅
11 years ago this month, I was diagnosed w/ cancer - salivary duct adenocarcinoma. Been pretty public abt it over the years but less so lately (no real new news).

She didn't mince words. She had heard the news. Asked for the update and the details.
I told her I was struggling to find the right doctors to figure things out.
She didn't skip a beat. By the next day, she had called to get me seen at in Houston at @MDAndersonNews

He'd write/edit/tweet shit that drove me nuts (and wanted hidden from view) and shit that I wish the world could see.
A rare talent. And a good human.
(3/3) Over lunch abt 1 month ago, we argued abt the future of the Democratic Party, nerded out about the latest in ad making, marketing and political tech and still made time to talk about health challenges we'd both dealt with over the years.
