Losing my job at Airbnb was a blessing in disguise.

A short thread on my entrepreneurial journey from April – Sept after being made redundant because of COVID-19.

The unexpected ending has been worth it (so far).
April: Made redundant due to COVID-19 🤕

Takeaway: Things don't happen to you. They just happen. Don't be mad, just move forward.

“Holding on to anger is like grasping a hot coal with the intent of throwing it at someone else; you are the one who gets burned.” — Buddha
May: Panicked and soothed myself with cooking 🥘

Takeaway: Moving forward sometimes means slowing down. Regroup.

Figure out what you can do with what you have now.
June: Went full-time on new business venture 💪🏼

Takeaway: Take calculated risks. I'd been nurturing this side-hustle. Redundancy was the nudge I needed to take the leap of faith.
Early-July: Remembered how much I love building things 😍

Takeaway: Damn, I wish I had done this sooner. If it feels like play to you, and work to everyone else, you have a business idea.
August: Customer feedback: "It's so beautiful it doesn't even feel like learning" 🥰

Takeaway: You are only as strong as your feedback loop. Don't automate or outsource live chat, etc. early-on.

All those interactions are gold for your growth.
Early-September: Working with 1% of the UK schools market 🤩

Late-September: Sister found my first grey hair... 😅

Takeaway: Life is all about trade-offs. Trade things of low-value to you, but high-value to others 😄
Follow for updates on the business, and tips on entrepreneurship, productivity, learning, and mindfulness 😇
Dec 2020: Went from zero clients in May 2020 to working with 1 in 5 UK schools. Ridiculous.

Lesson: never underestimate your "small idea".

Now to 10x the ambition for 2021.
